That wasn't fake news because I know people that got caught up in it trying to get to work! Of course the outgoing Gov said it was the people's fault for being out there! Lol.

    I read recently........

That a small engine car can idle for over 40 hours on 10 gal. of gas.

Has anyone "pushed for time record" on a taco? It would be good to know.

Maybe something for Myth busters ;-)

What about the EV vehicles? Surely they wouldn't last too long idling, w/ heater on!

Again, in the same article, I read.......

EVs can expend up to 20% of battery capacity per hour running the heaters. Suggestion was made just to use seat heaters to keep from freezing your ass. ;-)

Wait a minute, w/ the heated seats your ass will be the last thing to freeze! But of course your frozen arms will snap like a twig when they grab them to get you out for identification!

OK, the visual helps plenty! That has to be the most comfortable toilet seat ever! I'm trying to figure out how to do the same with my toilet at home!

But people was out there for over 18 hours! Strange, I haven't heard anything from them climate fanatics warning if you was in a EV vehicle, you would be the 1st to go! Only been a few days though, so I'm sure we will hear something soon! Lol

+1 for the eyepro. Nobody ever considers this. Also, layering. Nice kit. A small pack is really all it takes. I keep the rest in the truck year round, but winter time I sacrifice some space inside the cab to keep stuff like you have here. I also keep a bottle of water wrapped in inside the pack so it doesn't freeze. Recently got a lifestraw. Haven't tested it yet though.

An empty metal coffee/soup can with some tea light candles is a must for your emergency travel pack. Simple thermal heat! Great post OP!

One important part of preparation is if you don’t have to go out in the weather…

    Don’t. :D

It really doesn’t take much stuff. I have spent days on end outdoors, in sub-zero temps, with everything on my back. People who don’t have a few basic, climate-specific, survival supplies in their vehicle are morons.

Don't drive I-95 or I-81 for that matter. But then again the bailout traffic in Fredericksburg was horrendous on US 1.

It really doesn’t take much (of the right gear). For winter survival training we would snow shoe in for a few miles, make shelters/snow caves, stay the night, snow shoe back out the following afternoon.

They sell stiff foam seat rings. It's the real deal for the outhouse on winter! ;-)

Maybe I'm remembering back too far. But I remember when we got our first one! ;-)
