I am thinking of getting some Walker Evans Bead locks. I see they are listed for off road only. Are they ok for my Daily Driver. I really like the look of the wheel. It comes in a street non locking also but since I want to wheel more I would like to have the bead lock. anyone have any experience with this ?

if they are good with OFF_ROAD use then they should be good with street use

I think its not that they arent good on road I think its just that they are illegal on road for safety reasons. Some one correct me if I'm wrong I'm not 100% sure.

theyre not specifically ILLEGAL in most places...at least in the manner of you might get pulled over for them...theyre just not DOT approved and if you have inspections you may not pass

thats the way ive understood it

Centerline makes some DOT approved ones and Staun makes some too

yeah Its not the locks that I like. Its the look of the wheel. Like I mentioned before they make a street non lock wheel that looks the same. The price difference wasn't much so I thought I would ask if they could be used for daily driving. Thanks for the heads up everybody.

    ^^^^

He hit it dead on the head of the nail. Although, it is a pain in the ass to tell if they are dot approved in the first place. The dot stamp is almost always on the inside of the wheel.

Also, $350 isn't much for a quality wheel, especially when your talking about good bead locks. Not to say i would dish out 350 for a pair of wheel if i didn't have a good reason to do so...

Eagle type 102 Can get the beadlok in Blue Red Silver or black. They just m[IMG]ount to the outside of the wheel. I hear that they balance well.

I had the KMC Enduro true beadlocks that I used on the street and never had any problems. However they were a pain in the butt to mount and didnt balance out the greatest. Beadlocks are illegal here in C.A. because they arent D.O.T. approved- however I think Trail Ready has aproved beadlock wheels available...!

again...theyre not illegal in the typical sense that you'll get pulled over for having them...unless you get a real on the ball cop who actually wheels...

you may not pass an inspection though...

holy thread revival, but im on the same boat here, gonna buy a set of walker evans and the bead-locks are only $20 more per wheel than the street-locks so I might as well. Im calling some of my friends that work at wheel stores to see if they are even able to mount and balance them. If not, 4wheelparts can probably do it but they will most likely charge an arm and a leg, whereas my friend hooks it up for free.
