IMG_0773.jpg IMG_0770.jpg So I purchased this little amp and received it yesterday. I’ve got to say that the quality seems questionable. The high level input connector inside the body of the amp is super loose and the loomed connector just doesn’t want to be connected. It’s super tight and doesn’t give a firm “click”. Forcing it any further feels like the amp-side of the connection will just collapse inside the amp, or break.

I’ve emailed Meraki to see what they say, maybe this one needs to be replaced. Anyone else have difficulty with this input? The pic shows the input inserted as far as it’ll go, but no click. Pins are straight.

A little bit of dielectric grease on the connector and it seated. All went together fine and it’s up and running. The extra watts helps the system sound better , but still just OK. Speakers will be next.

speakers. are a total gamble as the beat sonic isnt a true amp, its a pre-amp....
Doesnt put out alot of power so replacing the speakers wont make a huge improvement,
    Assuming you have the JBL?
Those thin light jbl speakers are efficient & dont take alot of power to make the sound good.
You get a real speaker in there & the beat sonic cant keep up, not enough wattage to make a difference.

Theres a few posts floating around on here, just need to look for them...

You are absolutely right…. It’s a rabbit hole. Start with a beat sonic and next thing I know I’m at the local stereo shop dropping $7-8k on a full system overhaul!

    Yep, the JBL system.

yeah, what sucks is for what you paid for the BS, that could have been the price of a real amp...
Amps are dirt cheap these days, the entire car audio market is flooded with options...
To the point where its overwhelming...

Early on I thought I was all about the BS, but learned real quick I was going all in & not to waste my funds on a band-aid...

It's an amp that puts out 45-50 Watts max, depending on the model, but I'm not sure about RMS, which is the more important measurement, but I'll ask them. I'm also not sure of the RMS of the stock non-JBL and JBL systems, but I imagine it wouldn't make as much of an impact on the JBL system, as it would on the non-JBL one.

I have future plans to get their DSP enabled one for my non-JBL system. The DSP one allows you to set a high pass crossover for the speakers, and a low pass one for its dedicated RCA and remote out to go to a sub amp/powered sub. You can also set a custom eq, all of that is done by plugging a laptop with software that connects to it.

This will allow me to send the mid and high frequencies to the speakers, which minimizes how much bass they have to reproduce, and rattle in the door/dash. Then only the low frequencies to the powered sub I have. I'll also be adding vibration damping to the doors, and see what I can do about making the dash speakers less likely to rattle.

their dsp version @ 4x45w & $500, you can do so much better looking elsewhere....
    These little gadgets are bandaids....

yes, this will cost you more, but small price to pay to play....
You do the beat sonic & youre tapped out from the get go & no room to expand from there...
    Its a joke....

    Alpine dsp amp:

its one thing if youre going to do the BS & leave it alone from there.....
    but from what im seeing...
most of you guys do the BS & then aren't happy & start throwing speakers at it that are too large for the amp, & sound isnt any better....
Then you want to throw a sub at it & need another amp anyways....

So do it right, get an PAC ap4 ty 14, & a real amp.....
    doesnt have to be DSP......

I like my Beatsonic amp (plus subwoofer and amp). I got it because it is plug and play. Until there is a replacement for the OEM radio, I am not overly concerned about doing anything else. I did replace front door and dash speakers. Overall it was an improvement. I’ll admit, I have had better systems, but for me it starts with the headunit. So, I’ll wait patiently.

nothing wrong with the factory head unit, install a PAC ap4 ty 14 & get control of your system & you can upgrade & keep the factory radio.
