Alright, I know this has been done a thousand times, but I've tried to find the answer but never seem to find just what I'm looking for. So, I recently bought a 2022 Tacoma 2-wheel drive TRD sport and want to do a very mild lift. I never intend on taking it off the road, it's REALLY for the look (or I would have gotten the 4x4). I was thinking the 2"/1" same as the one that Toyota offers for the 4x4. I don't want to change my stock tires and rims so i figured that was a decent height for that. Just for information's sake I have the 17"inch sport rims with 265/65/r17s

With that said I have a couple of questions.

    1) Are the spacers really all that bad in this scenario? I'm not on a budget but don't feel that spending a lot for a pavement pansy is worth the punch to the wallet.

    2) If I were to keep the factory rake and do a 2" front / 2" rear lift, Can I still keep my original grill (with the Toyota symbol over the sensor) with a recalibration or am I pretty much stuck with getting the TRD Pro grill to try to mitigate any TSS issues.

*** really didn't discuss the TSS service Persey but keeping it as intact as possible would-be a plus *** Clearly, I know very little about Tacoma's as this is my first. All my info about them has come from YouTube and this forum.

I appreciate any replies to this thread!!:)

You should just get the factory Toyota lift for what you're wanting.

I think you are over thinking the risk, but if it eases your mind get the Toyota TRD lift. It’s unlikely anyone can give you a better answer. Lots of people get a lift and don’t worry about this or report problems. At the same time few of those people have probably been in a situation where it mattered. YMMV.

Oh I can easily tell you I'm an over thinker! As far as I know the Toyota TRD lift is only for the 4x4. New owner paranoia lol!

I don't know if the Toyota lift is just for 4x4 or not but I got the lift from the dealership on my 2022 SR5 4x4. I really like it so far as the 2 /1 lift makes the truck look great and really hasn't changed the feel , except I am higher. I changed the stock tires but mine were 245 75 16 and they just didn't look right . I went to a Falken wildpeake 265 75 16AT tire. I realize you are in a different situation but the factory lift was perfect for what I wanted , kept my warranty, no TSS worries and makes my truck look so much better. Just a thought if they do it on a 2wd as it seems you just want a slight lift. Good luck with whatever you decide to do!

Have the dealership turn off the TSS forever. Then get what ever lift you want.

You will be totally fine. With 2/1, or 2/2 and your stock grill. No need for recalibration. I lifted mine 2/2 and had no issues, also many others here have done both those lifts. No issues as well.

This is what a '21 TRD Sport 4WD DCSB looks like on factory meats (Toyo 265 65 17) and stock rims with the OME-005 (2inch ARB/Old Man Emu Heavy Load kit). I would not recommend the Heavy load coils and leafs unless you regularly have 600 - 800 lbs of static weight at all times. The 2886 front springs and the heavy dakars are stiff AF and perfect for my use case but probably not yours. The lift ended up being ~ 3 in but I expect the suspension to settle in the coming months. Check out this post if you want my before and after pics. I also installed SPC UCAs for adjustability (4 deg caster) to accommodate 285 70 17s that will be going on next month.

    Before
    Driver Front 35" Passenger Front 35 1/2"
    Driver Rear 35 1/4" Passenger Rear 35 7/8"

    After
    Driver Front 38" Passenger Front 38 1/2"
    Driver Rear 38" Passenger Rear 38 1/2"

    Edit:
    • No issues with any of the sensors (dynamic cruise, lane departure, or collision warning)

This is what I had done. Also don't get the error messages when it gets dirty either

Of those who turned off the TSS services, how much of a hassle did you get from the dealership and surely that affects the warranty. I imagine at the very least you have to sign a waiver.

No hassle they charged me for the privilege though and yes made me sign a waiver. I don’t regret the decision but there are two big downsides:
1). In order to turn it back on you have to buy a new sensor and have them reprogram it so you’re looking at like 800 bucks
2). You lose cruise control. I actually wasn’t aware of this as I thought since there are two modes of cruise control you would only lose one but it turns out you lose both. I don’t use it that much anyways so not the end of the world but I was disappointed.

Losing cruise control is no big deal to me I never use it anyhow. Seems to me the TSS services it allerely convenience items. I appreciate the feedback for sure.

Probably already answered somewhere on the forum but why is using tss with a lift bad?

In my case I'm out in the desert quite a bit with my truck, always dusty conditions. Without fail I would get the TSS error message to clean the sensor every time I went out. It annoyed me enough to the point I didn't want to see it anymore. No way to manually turn it off permanently on the user's end so I had the dealership do it. No other real downsides to using TSS once you get it set for your height correctly.
