Good gawd guys, at least pretend you've worked on a car before. :) Don't use weatherstrip adhesive, bathtub or window caulk, flexseal, chewing gum, blackjack roofing gunk, somerandom shit from your grandma's cupboard, etc. Is it on an auto body? Is it a seam? Does it need to be sealed? Automotive body seam sealer is the stuff. Permanently flexible, nonsagging, paintable. Its pretty much bulletproof.

Did some thinkin’ and cooler heads prevailed. Decided because of my lack of knowledge with body work and no closed garage, I’d take it to a shop. Super stoked on how it came out. Trimmed, pounded flat and sealed with Seam sealer. A couple coats of undercoating and no more worries.

It looks like you only flattened the bottom half?

Correct. I wanted to minimize the amount of trimming and modification to the pinch weld to keep as much of the factory continuity as possible.

I don't understand. If you flattened the whole weld, then you would lose factory continuity?

I meant in the sense of water proof continuity.

What do u guys think about the 'as seen on tv' rubber spray to seal things up? Did the passenger side on my first gen and thought that spray wouldn't hurt as there is no way to retain the splash guard, I have no room, I will need to do a cab chop if I go further.

The shop I took it to was pretty convinced that the stuff was a good route to go, they said they’ve used it on some applications before hand-specifically to seal up a leaking firewall. Initially they seemed to be leaning toward that direction, but after removing the wheel and taking a closer look they decided to opt for seam sealer. I guess it depends on the situation and what your looking for in terms of results/piece of mind. Personally I’d be weary of using any as seen on TV product on my truck. Mostly for longevity.

Got the cmc, and finished cutting and grinding the pinch weld. Ran some caulk over it. No splitting, then painted it all flat black. Its been raining a lot and no rain either.

Kinda hard to tell from the picture but it looks like part of the seam got pinched open. Idk how particular you are but maybe consider flattening or grinding down that portion to allow for a better seam when you seal it.

The caulk got a little messy, there is no openings at all. Here was the other side before seal and paint. I also left about a 1/4 in of pinch on both sides and only went up about 8 inches cause that was all I was rubbing. Thanks for looking out though. I will make sure to double check.

Soo I got a little too happy with the hammer while hammering on the pinch weld at the bottom and hit the bottom of the vendor. So now my door rubs on the vendor, anyone got any advise on how to fix it? Adjust the door? Adjust the fendor somehow. :bananadead::crapstorm:

LOL I was gonna say the same. Just wrap the hammer in something soft and try and beat it back

Sounds like it either slid on the bolts or you bent it. Bend it back or loosen the fender bolts and slide it out from the door. My grandma's old chevy lumina fender slid once and I ended up crunching it with the door.

I'll take a look, I was hit on that side already so that doesn't help me but the gap between the door and fender was even before.
