Fenders are cut, looking into cab mount relocations now. Then I'll have to find someone to do that

That’s the easiest way. You could get away with a super aggressive cmc, but that’s not a guarantee. Easy to do it one and done.

So I went at it today thanks to all the helpful information in this thread. A couple extra (common sense)pointers if not already mentioned:

    - Do not train shoulders/arms before doing this mod like this Einstein did. Holy fatigue, Batman.

    - Wear gloves lol. Pic below.

My padded sledge hammer that quickly appeared to have gotten raped:
    image.jpg

The debris that fell out as I began hammering the driver's side: image.jpg

Driver's side flattened. I did get some cracking:image.jpg

Applied seam sealer using the caulking gun with my ever-so-thrilled forearms feeling every bit of warmth of happiness. Looks like shit lol but I went straight to where the cracks were and along the questionable areas. After letting it sit while seam sealing the passenger side, I went back and added a little more and pressed it in get into the grooves:
    image.jpg

While hammering the passenger side, my knuckle clipped the cab mount and scraped it pretty good. Didn't stop me though. Looks like the CMC would have added more clearance for my swings lol! My CMC should be getting done on Thursday:
    image.jpg

Then sprayed both sides with 2 coats of rubberized undercoating. If I have enough left in the can after spraying my CMC, I'll definitely add a least another coat of it when I replace my liners with the Fend-X liners:

 I did the same exact shit. Ripped it off the bottom screw mount. So now I'm flareless.

How thin is the firewall? Can't believe it cracked like that. I'll have to keep that in mind when I start putting larger tires on.

I don't think that was the firewall cracking, just the paint. Which he was trying to avoid.

Why aren't you guys using this to seal?

Really not needed in my experience. Guess you may need it if you get a little over zealous with the hammer.

Depending on how well of a job you did in not cracking the pinch weld. but I saw a lot of pictures of people using gobs of sealant applied with a spatula and I was thinking of the spray on flex seal to button everything up tight. Quick and simple to me.

I was thinking of it in terms of cheap insurance.

Is Blackjack roofing tar a bad idea for the sealant?

I'm looking at my pinch welds with a glaring eye.

I would go with what’s tried and true and just go with flex seal or something similar

Anyone have any experience with using the permatex? About to get into the pinch weld and just a quick read says that paint won’t adhere to the permatex. the other is obviously for marine use but I would assume it’s usable in this situation? Thanks!

I wouldn’t even bother with the permatex. I’d clean up your wheel well, hammer the weld flat and then spray the undercoating. That should seal it up enough in the chance of a leak.

thats all I did. cleaned it off a little. beat it down. then just used flex seal (wasn't going to bother but I was curious and wanted to try out flex seal).
