My wife had a rental car in London once. It was on the governments dime and fully insured. She curbed it at the airport so hard it blew the tire. She said F it and just drove it to the rental car return with what was left of the tire hanging on to the wheel. She never heard a thing about it.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I was really lucky in most cases the rentals were all work related on the company card or account .

Then fuel was much cheaper during those times.

Absolutely admit nothing and if they bring it up tell them it was already there

Having spent almost a decade at a major rental company, I can tell you two things:

    1. The insurance absolutely covers that damage. (most are $0 deductible, but I'd have to know the company and details)
    2. Wheel damage is wildly common and rarely noticed.

Having demolished a couple of rental cars back in the day I dont think they even include curb rash as something they look for. It is almost a normal wear and tear item for them. Regardless dont say a word.
