    On the forecasted hottest days of the week, I'll take my F250 on the 75 mile round trip to work, even at 11mpg, just because the a/c works better than my Mazda 6.

    Anyway, what I was getting at is adapting the larger condenser from a Sienna might give a significant boost in a/c performance. Looking up specs on Rock Auto, the Sienna condenser is actually 26-1/2" X 19-7/8" while the Tacoma is only 20-1/4" X 18". That's a difference of 162 square inches of 2D surface area (actual surface area would be greater as the condenser is a 3D object).

    Other than figuring out mounting, it looks like the high and low pressure connections are on different sides. However, with your experience and a full shop at your disposal, I can't imagine it taking much effort to fab up some custom lines.

    The only downside I can see, is there will not be enough force generated by the compressor to move the refrigerant efficiently. The whole system has to be balanced with power in and work out. Without going back to my thermo class, the whole system will need to be changed to runner a larger condenser. I’m not sure about how the taco compares to 4Runner. That might be an easier swap :notsure:

    Simply having a larger cooling area with a slight increase in fluid capacity should make a difference even without a larger compressor. It might actually help: increased fluid capacity in the condenser would have the effect of slowing down its speed through the tubes, allowing more time for heat transfer.

    I am literally considering this. I can find a window unit for a hundred bucks on CL, wouldn't even take that much space, and run it right from the bed outlet!

    Blowing air too fast across the evaporator will have less effective cooling. You'll have more air flow, but the air won't be as cool because the heat won't have time to transfer from the air into the refrigerant.

    @Bebop .... did you ever install an electric fan on the condenser ? I have ordered a fan but have yet to install it. Biggest challenge i'm facing is how to make some brackets that hold the fan in place and not look janky.

    Maybe I ordered 10s for the truck. I ordered one for the fiancés evoque. It suffers from the same problem except it won’t blow cooler than 64 at idle. Mine sits at 55
