Thanks for posting this. I ordered a 10" straight blade fan. How many CFM's is your fan rated for and how did you wire yours? I'd like mine to kick on when the compressor does.

The bed creates turbulence against the tail gate. That turbulence causes the air to flow over the truck.

I did this to my F-150 and it works! I went from 55 at the vent to 32 if I wanted it. I used a guitar potentiometer, adjustable from 0 to 500K. Dial on the fly if needed.

    http://www.f150ecoboost.net/forum/46-f150-ecoboost-guides-how-tos/12429-how-mod-ac-blow-colder.html

Does anyone know if the Tacoma A/C compressor kicks on and off in a cycle depending on the output of the thermistor? The F-150 would cycle on and off depending on the resistance in the circuit from the thermistor output. The thermistor is in the coil and its purpose is to vary output resistance depending on the tempearture of the coil. If it got too cold the A/C compressor kicks off until it sees a different resistance from the thermistor. The cycle repeats itself constantly. In the F-150 you could feel it kick on and off by sticking your finger in the vent. You can also use a meat thermometer like the original poster and watch the temperature go up and down as it cycles on and off. If the Tacoma also does this, you could use a resistor or potentiometer to make the A/C compressor run longer, making the coil colder, making your A/C colder.

Read the above link. There is another good one on the F150forum.com site that I can dig up also. I am willing to share more info if anyone is interested.

Did you take any before/after data? Super interested on your thoughts either way.

Sadly I didn’t take any before data or temp measurements inside the cab on a hot day. I did one time and it was around 115-122 inside the truck I think. I used this product on a customers barracuda floor pan since his complaint was the engine and headers would burn his legs through the firewall and tunnel especially during the summer time. He said after I did it he’s had no issues with heat on his legs anymore. I’m just hoping for less radiant heat inside after a hot day and that the ac won’t have to work as hard to cool the cab down

I did mine a while back, i did a sound layer and a layer of the thermo stuff. I don’t have any before and after measurements, but definitely quieter and stays slightly cooler when parked. Mine is silver too, and i have tint and a windshield sun shade.

I’ll try to take one in a bit, 15% still allows you to see out of them at night time, 5% does not on the front 2 lmao, I had it for a while. It’s amazing during the day though

I have been kicking around this idea since summer began. My truck is black and for the first 20-30 minutes you can really feel the heat radiating through the headliner. I'll get some "before" temp data for you all tomorrow.

@txtaco87 have you noticed any improvement so far?

Yesterday on my way home from work after the truck sat out all day it didn’t take long to cool down (given it rained most of the afternoon). Today is supposed to be clear and sunny so I can give better input when I leave work at 6:30.

The Thermotec (cool it) sheets 60”x36” in Amazon are $53-56 a sheet. I used 2 of them and still have some left over
