Sweet. I've sent some emails out to Firestore and talked to the guy who installed it, we'll try to tweak it this weekend and get it feeling right while keeping as much of the articulation as possible (hopefully all).

If you ever have a chance to measure your full droop that would be cool to know.

Why did you add the air bag setup? Do you tow heavy loads often?

Yeah, I have a boat. I don't tow it that often, but enough to where I would really like to be able to make the airbag setup work. The stock spring were pathetic, headlights pointed sky high.

I got the Icon AAL's because of the suspension performance part of it. I hitched the boat up and deflated the bags and the angle wasn't too bad, however, since it's not designed for load carrying it will wear them out. And I'm worried if I get leafs designed for load carrying it will ride like crap. Getting the truck to do everything hard. lol

I think I'd rather go with the full OME kit. For about the same price you get much better leafs.

I guess OME does have the better leaf springs, but I would take these shocks over OME shocks any day. 60mm front shocks with remote resi's in the rear and an increase in suspension travel all the way around :dancingbacon:

You can always put an AAL on the stock leafs .

I've said it before, but I'll say it again, this setup rides awesome:cool:

I find myself trying to hit the large speed bumps faster than I ever thought about doing before with the Toytec ULK. These shocks just soak it up.:D

The advantage to this setup is that you can try it for yourself. You can go to the local dealership and drive a Baja and see if it is what you're looking for.

Wanted to update this thread. I got the airbag issues resolved by installing Daystar Airbag Cradles and removing the spacers. I now have no restrictions on droop and I'm not longer bottoming out prematurely.

The truck now rides great! I've only been able to go over some gravel roads at speed with some divots and washouts but the truck floats over everything much better now.

In my opinion, this suspension has no negatives compared to stock. The annoying brake dive has been pretty much eliminated and the body rolls less too.

I test drove a Baja truck at my local dealership and it rides way better than the OR suspension.. I did no like the TRD cat back system that is installed though.. it drones way too much and would get annoying after about 30 minutes on the road.. I had to file a case with Toyota corporate to try and get the TSB springs since they put a stop to all TSB's for the rear springs for now.. for some reason they think replacing the 3 leafs with 3 new leafs would fix it.. I told the lady I want the 4 leafs instead but she doesnt think the corporate office will agree to that..

Really? I love the exhaust. I don't find that it drones in most rpm ranges and on the freeway it's fine too (unless going uphill).

It is a bit annoying when towing the boat though as then the engine is always under load.

    Call Rick at Morristown! :)

Looks like there is some good stuff going on in here! I will be getting 285's soon. I just spent the last week in Moab and the truck did great. I am talking to toytec about swapping out some springs so that I can get the lift I lost back.

i'm based out of Austin for now so I'm always driving around on hills, so even though I dont have to get on it hard, i have to push the gas hard enough to make it drone.. I didnt mind it if i was on the gas pretty hard, but just barely pressing the accelerator make it sound like one of those annoying rice burner cars.. guess i'm too used to the rumble of V8's.. I wish the dealer would just fix my rear springs.. I have the 3 leaf pack and as soon as i put my camper on it, they went flat.. as soon as i put anything in the back they go inverted.. they said all the TSB's for the OR have been suspended until they can figure something else out.. they wont change them out to 4 springs..

I see. Well, as they say, "one man's trash is another man's treasure" lol.

Re tsb, that's what they told me too. It wasn't worth the aggravation and wait, I just ordered the Icon AAL kit. There are other single aal options to that are pretty cheap too.

    Brandon,
Can you post more pics? Also, any rubbing issues with 285/75? I have a 2012 baja and I am wanting to put that size on when my factory tires wear out.
    Thanks! Truck looks great!

i still love the suspension, but my 285s have rubbed a couple of times now. they just barely catch the bottom of the black plastic on the inner fender wells. it could probably easily be fixed with minor trimming.

i can take some pics this weekend and post them up to show tire clearance.

this thing rides like butter, my spine and kidneys are loving it

hey just noticed your top of the world pic, we were there last year. that trail gets pretty hairy, doesn't it?
there is no way i would want to drive a full size pick up down that thing.

I don't know about yours but mine has gotten even smoother with some break in time. Rides freggin great! I find myself driving off the side of the road whenever I see some dirt just to feel the suspension work, lol.

Truck also handles awesome on rougher two lane twisties. I hope one day I can get a ride in a truck with Icons or Kings to feel the difference. No regrets so far.
