I'll never understand why people say the Tacoma is underpowered? Are people referring to towing power?
All I know is when I press it to the floor it takes off like a freakin' rocket. The throttle response is VERY impressive, IMO.

I'm sure the big trucks are faster, but whatever. I'll never have any complaints, at all, about the V6.

Some people are never satisfied. In the 90s, most trucks had 200ish hp and they were fine for what their use was. Now the standard is prob 300ish, and it's not good enough.

I'm a die hard Toyota guy but Raptors just plain work in the dirt.

You can build a full blown LT Taco and get closer to what a Raptor can do but it would take a ton of $$ and time. The amount of $$ puts you within range of buying a Raptor anyway. I almost bought one a few years ago but I couldn't justify the expense.

Here is the math. $28k 4x4 DCSB Tacoma + $32k (LT F/R, cage, lights, wheels/tires, glass, bumpers,) =$60k

The Chevrolet Reaper is a joke. The TRD Pro is also a lame attempt by Toyota IMHO but a better attempt than Chevrolet's.

Seems like you could do all that for a lot less than $32K.

I was thinking that myself. Most of the cost is labor for the cages.

A buddy of mine just bought a Raptor less than a month ago.
We are not even comparing apples to apples here.
I'm two weeks into my new tacoma. I love my new truck but it doesn't hold a candle to the raptor as far as fit and finish.
But it cost me 60$ to fill up and get 300 miles. His costs 140$ bigger tank and 100 more miles than me on that tank.
We recently did a road trip out to Denver and the best MPG we got was 13.9
If I had the cash and didn't mind the gas expense I would be happy to own a raptor.

Yea, my buddy and I looked up those roush super charged raptors. His truck has so much power now. I couldn't imagine what that would be like.
I wish the TRD chargers wasn't so expensive.

My cottage neighbor has a raptor, very nice and powerful truck! He likes it except for the gas mileage and the fact that he went thru 11 rear shocks in the past 2 years. He beats it up pretty badly though, I followed him for a 20 km spur on very rough roads, he just pins it and has no regard for obstacles.

I could have bougth a raptor but it never crossed my mind, don't need one and makes no sense for me. I paid cash for my truck because I hate payments. There are people out there that live for their truck and are willing to spend 60k (or the payments for 60k) on a Raptor, and that's all they do...that's fine with me, but I chose to go a different route.

I hear that! I waited 14 years before I bought my tacoma. Emailed16 dealers in 5 states. My local dealer said to bring the lowest quote I could get and he would beat it by 1k
So that's what I did. Ended up getting it for 30950.00 wrote the man a check and drove away.

wtf is with advertising crap on a truck? that'll be the day i put "oakley" or a "kcco" sticker on my vehicle let alone have it built into the grill.
this truck screams, "i'm 20 years old and need attention badly."

To do it all properly, LT kits require way more than just bolting on the kit and taking off

That is Bubba Watson's(Pro Golfer and car collector) Raptor that Oakley built for him. Oakley Motorsports and Oakley Golf team collaborated to build him a truck. The glass is bulletproof and there are Kevlar panel inserts in the body
Build me a $150,000+ truck and they are welcome to plasma cut a fluffy pony in the grill. I'd rock it.
