If the headlamp bulbs are replaceable, the headlamp lens must be marked with the headlamp light source type (bulb) for which it was designed and the bulb must match the lens code."

Now the question is, are aftermarket projectors "approved"? I'd hate to spend $100's on a set and then find out they are not approved.

 

Exactly. And also, who's going to look for the DOT approval? That's why I said it probably depends on the inspector.

I'm willing to bet quite a few won't give it a second look. I've got a set of black housing DEPO lights on my truck. Honestly couldn't tell you if they have DOT stamp. Probably do, but I've never even looked. And the guys I get to inspect mine just have me run the lights for function, and don't check for DOT markings. Although I do know them, and they know I wouldn't ask them to pass anything shady.

Technically my LED pods on the bumper are an automatic fail, because they're wired hot and aren't covered. But again, one of "those things" that I don't get asked about and don't open my mouth. And if I ever do get asked by the man, then I put them on after it was inspected as far as anyone needs to know.

Good morning! A little thanks yesterday was my first day out of the sling in 6 weeks that made me feel better other than it hurting

 

Good thing is since that they installed my SUA, they are very familiar with the process now for a Tacoma. They are a little pricy, but they are very precise in their work.

 

Where you been hiding? Selling all your skids what's up with that?

 

I got aftermarket projectors on mine. Mine were "DOT" approved in design and have been inspected without issue. From my understanding since I have HIDs, that they only care about HID bulbs that are higher than 7000 which starts to emit a bluish color.

 

Dude I don't know what it is, but EVERY time I somehow seem to lose the updates on this thread. I am going with an exhaust reroute, and took some inspiration from you and am going with SOS skids. They will likely be made in the next 3-4 weeks. How is the truck coming along?

Not doing much as I have other financial obligations rt now. Other than the lights not really anything. I am only working on getting stuff together to refinish the wheels at this point. I've been able to do so much already this year if I don't get anything else done for now I'm ok with that. I'm ready to turn my attention to the Camaro now that I can do a little and get it going and either drive it or sell it

 

I hear that Camaro is nasty man, would be cool to see a vid of it fired up. Are you going with retroing your lights or the BHLM and did you scuff up your wheels? The rocks in SC got some from my fakelock rings, good thing I don't care about car shows haha.

 

If I do anything with the lights it will just be a bhlm or whlm no retroing. My wheels were really rough when I got them and while I stipped them all down I was in a hurry not to mention they had wheel weights on the outer lip and I couldn't get everything. They just need to be cleaned bck up and resprayed with a possible color change
