Anyone in the Caroline area who's bored is welcome to come help pull the wheel bearings out of this thing... but you only got a couple hours. Cause that's about as long as I plan on taking. IMG_20161217_194435.jpg

And i just broke an ABS sensor... So much for a couple hours job. Guess the Jersey truck had a trick up it's sleeve after all.

Thank you sir. Just something quick I whipped up from some under $15 rod holders from Gander Mountain and a little hardware I had laying around. Holds my surf rods while I'm at the beach so I don't have to break them down every time I want to make a move. I'm brainstorming an angled one because I'm right around 13' with my 10' rods. I want to pick up a couple 12' or 13' ones, bit that's going to put me way too high.

Also, wheel bearings are done, gotta order an ABS sensor cause I'm an idiot and broke one. But they're both installed, tested, and hound approved. Also, I apparently need adult supervision. IMG_20161218_015031.jpg

Not bad. Don't want to lose the bed floor though. I'm going to probably weld/bend something up to go from rail to rail so I can still have all my crap under it.

I think you could just use the bottom part, making it U shaped, and secure it at the front of the bed. Might have to make the legs longer for stability...

Not crazy about the center caps AT ALL... But the wheels are pretty sweet. Need some 285s though, as soon as these are dead. IMG_20161218_215012.jpg

What are those they look pretty good? I'm guessing your wanting width also for going out on the beach. I was a little skeptical about these 255's for sand but people say they do really well. If I ever get to go out on the beach I guess we'll see.

Edit: the wheels look great by the way

Method NV in 17"x8.5" wrapped with 255/75 Goodyear Duratracs.

Mine do pretty awesome around 15-20 psi depending on the sand conditions. I dropped them to 10 psi to pull a Dodge Ram out that was sunk to the frame. I don't think I could have gotten stuck if I tried at that pressure. Of course, that was on a 17X9.

These don't stick out quite as far, and the center cap sticks out almost to the lip of the wheel. I think that's what's messing with me. If I can manage to wedge 285s on it, I might like them a little better. Or find flush caps. They're kind of growing on me though.

    IMG_20161219_110003.jpg

It's super simple. Just a couple cheap rod holders, some carriage bolts and wing nuts. Then some spacers and bolts on the bottom to support it against the front wall of the bed. No problems holding my 10' surf rods at 60 mph.

Just run without the center caps. I've run the Tundra that way for yeeeaaars. Just paint the hub ends to match the wheel, no one, I mean No One will notice you are capless.

Before I put the 285 ( ST Maxx ) on the Tundra, I ran the 255/85/16 Discovere ST ( Maxx predecessor, different tread pattern )
I've ran both on the beach at Carova and Cape Lookout, both did great and aired down properly, you really can't tell any significant difference. ......

I was capless with the Cragar Soft 8s. Only problem is my black anodized wheel spacers keep turning copper colored. Lol.

i can't believe you've had 255's on 9" wheels, aired down, and didn't pop a bead. i guess sand is way different than rocks anyway. that's cool though, and they get you everywhere you want to go. i can't remember but how much lift did you say you had? originally i had 3" spacers and ran 285/70/17's on 17x9 wheels with 4.5" bs and a =12 offset. the only thing i had to do to clear was remove the mudflaps and clip the bottom corners to the rear of the front flares then they cleared fine. each tire is different though, as you know, these were p rated tires if you got an aggressive tire it may take a little more work

Yeah, sand definitely doesn't work the bead like dirt/rocks do. Also, I had steel wheels. They hold a bead better than aluminum. I'm only running 5100 Bilstein adjustables on the highest notch, plus the 150 pound ARB up front. Getting ready to throw a 48 pound winch up front too.

These Methods are 17x8.5 with 4.5" BS and -12mm offset. I also have 1.25" spacers. I'm thinking I'm going to have to trim a lot more than I already have, probably chop the cab mounts, and maybe even do a little hammer work. I honestly don't want to lift it any higher. If it's too bad, I guess I won't have.uch of a choice though.

I had the 285's on mine after I changed the lift. the front only has 2.5" now and they still cleared fine. the only difference is your wheels are .5" narrower maybe try the 285;s with out the wheel spacers the 4.5bs and -12 offset should be plenty sticking out. the further you have them sticking out the more you'll rub. kinda depends on the tires also. I can tell you if your looking at the coopers I love mine.
