I see 4-5 members here that have major pars on order or already have them. I would love to see you guys have a mod day and give each other a hand. If your still waiting on parts give those who have theirs a hand and hopefully they'll return the favor when you get yours. Just because I can't do shit doesn't mean you fine group of folks can't put some stuff together and have fun. Being as I have nothing else to do I'm happy to help organize anything for yu I can. Steven is going to have his hands full when he gets his stuff. I'm sure , even though Beth is an exceptionably capable lady that James could use a hand lifting up his heavy bumper, and those of you with the bolt on sliders could use a hand especially drilling the verticle hooles in your frames. Make it fun and enjoy each others company and post some cool pics

Well hopefully you're all fixed up for good now. Just fight the urge to do anything and enjoy the break.

I'd love to be rt in the middle of helping you guys get stuff done but that's not going to happen so help each other and let me participate through your activities.

Maybe a little biased but I'd buy the softopper. My truck gets compliments all the time because of it. Your rig would look good!

Also I have no experience with them but doesn't the solid sides give you a tremendous blind spot?

Unfortunately they don't make side windows but bestop does. As far as the blind spot it's not bad at all. I have blind spot monitoring as well so it's not bad. It's like driving an SUV.

What threw me off was getting used to my bike racks since they sit off the bed side's. I always thought I had a car in my blind spot when looking at my side mirrors

well talk to Steven or buyobuyo and see what y'all czn do. you guys aren't all that far apart. Perhaps James 9I'm in no way speaking for him) could use a hand with his bumper and winch this weekend if I'm not mistaken several of you are good at wiring. just take pics and post as you go

Yeah, your truck looks awesome with it. I think it might be the white/tan contrast (and those wheels...). Like I said, you've got the only 3rd gen I drool over.

I'd obviously have to go black, because EVERYTHING else on my truck is blue/black. But I'm with you, I think it would look awesome on my truck. And we all know it's all about the looks. :p

That's my only concern. And really not so much for regular driving, but for towing. I do tow a bit, and I'd probably primarily have a use for the cover when I'm headed to the beach, which means I'll have my pop-up in tow. And I'm one of those old schoolers who actually turns their head to check blind spots when they're driving. I back up with my mirrors though, so I'm not worried about that. But then again, I'm sure I can get used to it. I've driven all kinds of stuff you can hardly see out of and haven't killed anyone yet.

Might be a possibility. I know it's supposed to be nothing but rain all weekend starting tonight, so I'm thinking the plans I had for the weekend might end up cancelled.

Why stop at just half the catalog?

I saw a white 2nd gen double cab with a soft camper on it and oem style tube steps on my way out of town to grab my sliders. I'm assuming it was a softopper because it had no side windows. He was a car or two in front of me pulling onto 301 and turned into Dahlgren. Personally, I would want the side windows. Even with the shell I have the decrease in visibility was pretty substantial when I first got my shell. I'm used to it now, but I wouldn't want to have no side windows on it.

I should be able to lend a hand on Sunday if anything is going on. If not, I might try to start getting paint on things depending on if it's raining or not.

Hopefully it'll last this time around. Take it easy on that couch. Lol. That's gotta suck!

Organize away. You can also join us for whatever you get organized, sit back and interject, um, shall we say, good advice (aka sarcastic commentary)
Lol. At least his wallet will be light enough to carry
Lol. Willing to accept help but she's already picked it up and exclaimed how light it was. That'll change slightly with the winch. We're shooting for an install NEXT Sunday, other plans this weekend.
And you could use small hands to fit inside the frame rail....

Thanks! I think its also one of the most practical mods I've done. Only complaint is the rear window when cold, you have to be very careful not to bend it

I've not really noticed a blind spot with the hard shell, don't think a soft top would be any different.

Ain't gonna happen this weekend. Next weekend hopefully

Of course it's about looks. That's why the truck and the trailer match. We even have discussions about proper sticker location for the best appearance......

    Head swivel - check
    Backing with mirrors - check
I do have the Trail Toys aspherical mirrors (wide angle mirrors on driver and passenger side) Which are really helpful with the trailer. They take some getting used to, especially I'd you daily drive a normal mirrored car.

    I know, right!:transformer:

Must be why I don't notice a blind spot - just used to it I guess

I already have a front bumper or else that would have been in the equation too.

Yeah... I've never really been this on the fence about something for this truck. I really think I'd probably just get used to it being on there. I do know I'm 99% certain I don't want a hard camper shell, because I used to sell them, and while they look great, and windoors are the shit, but they're a PITA.

No lie... I really gotta stop.

Oh yeah, I dropped $250 on a new surf rod/reel last night too... Amazon just reminded me of that. Apparently I've gotten so numb to spending money I forget about doing it.

Yeah... Buddy of mine had a wrangler and it was the same way. He used to roll a towel up in it to keep it from scratching itself too. Worked decent, but eventually plastic windows will end up looking like hell.

I also got their mesh rear for when I put the dog in the back so she has some air, but have yet to install it since its been cold everytime we've gone camping

so then yo order replacement window panels. To me they both look great I like the look of the best top a little more. It's only personal preference. They both appear to be excellent quality

I'm sure I could get used to the blind spot if it came to it, but since I've moved out here, I've noticed the little cars like to cruise along in my blind spot. Never had that problem out in NM.

I just ordered a set of SPC UCA from the GB that's going on. I've, also, been contemplating lift options and building a sleeping/storage platform in the bed.
