I checked my bumper on my 16 Taco yesterday, and sure enough the left side of bumper is a good inch away from the bed and the right side bumper is right up to the bed of the truck.

I've checked mine too and the gap of the driver side bumper is wider compare to the passenger side bumper. What the hell Toyota!

Just got my 2016 Tacoma back from dealer. Thught my bumper was out of alignment. Found out the right side of bumper was backed into. Bumper pushed back into bed. Parking sensor retaining ring cracked. Suggestions on how to fix?

Fortunately, I took photos of the truck the day of and the day after I bought the truck.
Let me know what you think? Was the bumper out of alignment when I bought the truck

The day after photo has no TRD badging on the bed

Looks like a larger gap on the left side but it could be the angle of the photo.

That's correct. The gap on the left side is almost an inch bigger than on the right side

That sucks did you get it fixed or was it a fuck it point? Mine is slightly out of alignment but after looking at others I think they did an alright job so I may just say f it and leave it. Some of these pictures make me think the assembly line workers were drunk setting the beds. One question I do have would this make a difference on gas mileage and aerodynamics or not enough to care?

If you look at my diagram in this post will see that the frame has the bed holes in the center but the bed holes are A LOT larger than the screws holding it down and the bed is moving/shifting from normal driving conditions. My PRO was centered at dealer, after driving a while it moved to the left and now is to the right off center. The fix is to loosen the bed bolts, center the bed to frame and cabin the best you can and find a way to fill in the gaps between the bolt holding the bed to the frame and the bed legs that have a metal insert in them. Open one bolt and look inside, you will understand.

Well after the dealer had new parts for the bumper installed it was better but still not what it should be. I showed it to the service manager and he agreed and is sending me to their body shop so they can figure it out. I will post results of that experience next week. Body shop thinks there is a bent part where the bumper is mounted but we will see what they find. Truck will go there next week.

Dealer won't touch it because they said it looks like the bumper was hit. I agree with dealership. My issue is I think it was like this when I purchased the truck .
The damage is so minimal you can't see it unless you're on your knees. It's my word against Toyota word.

    Happy St. Pats Day.
The body shop saw it today and went inside to there PC pulled up a diagram and said that there are no adjustments and nothing they could do. Went back down to the dealer and (he)the service mgr. wants it back on April 6th since I am bringing he truck in because of the Qi charging pad issue for a regional person to see. Qi pad does not work - period when the dealer had it the last time they gave me a 2017 prius as a loner and I tried the Qi pad and it worked with two different phones just fine. Texas said problem need to be esculated via the dealer network. We will see what the regional rep. says when we show him both issues. Dealer is trying but he cannot fix bad engineering or no QC during manufacturing. Will post results

if your body shop had to pull up a diagram to see exactly how the bed is attached on a truck/bed design that's been around sense basically 2005
you RUN... the dealership I go to has a Toyota certified body shop they didn't hesitate to fix mine and while I waited saw the whole thing very simple !!!!!!!!!!!!

Had my ARE Cap installed and I immediately noticed that it was not in line with the cab. I brought it to the attention of the technician that installed the cap. He pointed out that my bed was off center by at least an inch or more. Took the truck to my dealer and they aligned the bed slightly better than before. As I waited for the repair I looked at the Tacoma's on the lot. About half were slightly to severely out of line. Pitiful!!

Woah mine is very similar! I thought someone had hit me in a parking lot but I couldn't see any damage. What did the dealer say?

Mine just rolled off the transporter and looks like that too, I asked to have it adjusted before I take delivery.

Just talked with service advisor at the dealership about my bed, they said they would have to send it to the body shop to have it aligned, I think I will just let it be for a while. Don't trust some of the guys they hire.

My bumper looks just like yours. Dealer won't touch it because they say it was hit. Took truck to body shop was told it would cost between $700-$1,200 to fix. I'm seriously looking at a aftermarket heavy duty bumper. Cost between $800.00 and $1,000
