To muddy the waters a bit, isn't the TRD Sport and OR also just a package added to the SR5 Tacoma? I thought I'd heard the VIN only differentiates three trucks, Pro, Limited and the SR5.

Probably. The difference being on a Tacoma you start with Tacoma TRD Sport or Offroad, whereas with the Tundra you start with SR5, Limited, etc.

Feel free to use the TRD designation OP. There's absolutely no TRD parts on a stock TRD sport or off road. It's pretty much false advertising to begin with so you're good to go.

I dunno, to each their own I guess. I have a TRD Sport and swapped the grill out with a Pro grill and removed the chin strap etc and installed a TRD Pro skid plate. But for me personally, I would never put anything that said, “TRD Pro” on it. Perhaps it’s just me, but I would never want to advertise it as a TRD Pro wanna be when it’s not.

But your truck, your money. You do you and do whatever makes ya happy. Just don’t try and resell it as something that it ain’t.

Never said I was doing it, the Toyota factory does it with the Tundra as OR and Sport packages into SR5 and Limited models. You see both SR5 and Limited badges with TRD OR and Sport bedside stickers so it seems odd they don't do it with the Tacoma.

TW members seem to think it can't be an SR5 if it's an OR or Sport

Like I said I think OR and Sport Tacomas are listed as an SR5 VIN with a specfic package, it now has "TRD" parts.

Plenty of non TRD trucks are running around with TRD badged wheels or a TRD Pro grill so now it also has "TRD" parts.

Selling? Sure, full disclosure is a must but if a person wants to put TRD stickers on the sides of their SR5 I don't see a problem with it if it has some TRD parts installed.

I wouldn't recommend OR or Sport unless you install the full package.

Here’s mine. Very high quality decals. Mines also a true SR5 though. From my understanding a real SR5 should have a 5 speed manual transmission like original corollas were called back in the day.

I have no clue why they put decals on truck beds like that...spoils the entire look of the truck. Nothing looks better than a clean vehicle.
