I am looking into making some bed drawers and a platform to store items a bit more securely, but don't have a camper/topper/tunneau cover.

What are your thoughts on making this without a cover?

Do you think the water will drain enough outside of the bed where the items wont be in a puddle?

    Material recommendations?

I'm interested to see if anyone responds. I'm in the same boat. I have spent a good deal of time searching for this and haven't found much. My plan if I can make myself pull the trigger is to build a drawer out of extruded aluminum (8020.net) and marine HDPE plastic. I think that will be weather resistant if designed correctly with an eye to preventing water intrusion. I have some sketches. The problem is that it ain't cheap. I'll post up when I get something together.

Dumped the Tacoma, that's all it needed.
this is the similar route that I am going, but I’ll have topper and use marine grade plywood and carpet
