I forgot to mention I have a Bestop soft canopy. Even without a canopy, my pup wouldn't jump out. If you had a dog crate, you most certainly would not be able to fit it between the tailgate and the bed extender.

As an FYI, I learned in another thread that the AMP product uses sheet metal screws to mount the side brackets whereas the OEM uses bolts and nuts. If this matters to you, here are the 2 OEM part numbers, one for the older style and one for new style bed extenders. Also, attached is the OEM installation guide so you can compare it with AMP installation.

    Just wondering...

When folded back into the bed without any cargo, does the OEM bed extender vibrate/jump up & down/make audible noise?

Assuming you have the "newer" D-shaped extender rather than the "older" U-shaped extender, do you feel like you're giving up any appreciable storage space?

I use my bed extender as a bed divider probably 90% of the time and as an extender only 10% of the time. Works great in both applications though.

I do have the d shaped one. It works well for everything I've needed.
it's the best bang per buck mod that I've done.

^The advantages/disadvantages seem pretty clear. The bed divider can slide along the bed rails so you hold stuff close to the headboard. It's heavier-duty but also heavy at ~ 100 lb. The knobs interfere with many tonneau and cap designs.

I also use mine as a be divider. it has plenty of space for most day to day things, ~$200 groceries, most ice chests, etc. Yes, i have the factory tonneau cover and as you can see, it does fit with both. the only complaint, if you want to call it that, (really just a side note), in order to flip the bed extender out, you need to open the cover completely, rather than just once

the extender has rubber bumpers to absorb bumps and reduce noises. I have never heard mine, while driving

Cool :) Thanks, All, for your input. I ordered one through my local dealer today. Surprisingly, they price-matched online sales quotes.

Just google the part number, which I posted earlier in this thread. You'll find many sources for this item. I simply printed out one of the online price quotes and showed it to my local dealer. They price-matched it, and I saved on shipping costs. Your mileage may vary. :)
