Bed extender compatibility???

I have a Leer 550 fiberglass tonneau on order and need to find out if the OEM or AMP bed extenders will work with it.

I’m pretty sure that it will fit fine underneath, concerned if it will clear the front hinges on this style of tonneau. I would prefer to get the more “square” shaped extender instead of the tapered.

If anyone has this same tonneau (or a similar 1-piece fiberglass one) and a bed extender, your input is appreciated!

 

I have a trifold that lays flat on the bed sides and a bed extender(OEM) fits perfectly under. Good luck

 

I found the below image in a for sale thread by another member on Tacoma World. It’s of the same Leer 550 tonneau that I have on order.

Anyhow, you can see the hinges that I’m talking about. Need to know if the tailgate extender will clear these when folded in.

 

Even the "square shaped" AMP bed extender tapers in where those hinges protrude so the odds are it should fit. Just purchase the bed extender from a place that allows returns.

 

That’s what I’m starting to think. Probably order it through Amazon as returns are so easy. Thought I’d post a tread first as all the info I’ve found regarding this combo is with a soft or tri-fold tonneau, which doesn’t have those big hinges.

Just ordered the tonneau on Tuesday. According to Leer it’s a 8-12 week lead time to manufacture and custom paint the tonneau. The installer/dealer says it’s usually quicker than that though.

Trying to plan ahead with different storage options for underneath the tonneau. Currently have a low profile rail mounted toolbox for secure storage, but wanted a more streamlined look.
