Anyone experienced this? Plan on getting the Pop N Lock, but until then was thinking about running a lockable short cable through the rear tie down and around the extender post/rail; minor pain in the burt, but possibly worth it. Got the idea from the tailgate theft post recently, saw a cable strung on the tailgate; I already have the clamp on mine, thought maybe the extender would benefit from this also...no pics as of yet...

I cable everything in my bed.

If a person is intent on stealing it he will steal it.

But the cable prevents a jerk from just walking away with it.

I carry gear all the time in my bed. I have a soft tonneau cover so it can easily be broken into. But at least the cover keeps the things out of view. I also have a cargo divider that I zip-tie and use those bungy cords to the d-rings.

I can remember a time when you could leave a Milky Way on the dashboard, a 6 pack of Coke Colas and peanut butter sammich in the seat and gear in the back, and they'd still be there next morning...if you travel now alone on a fish/hunting trip, you have to pirse in a pop can and pour it out the window for fear of leaving your truck unattended for even a minute. I sometimes frequent a couple of fresh and salt water fishing boards, and theft is becoming more frequent. Lots of good honest peeps out there, but unfortunately, one must take great pains to secure stuff day and night. As stated above, you can only do so much...the extender is so easy to remove quickly; figured someone here might have devised a measure of defense already:)

Mods so far: Tube steps from toyota, Bed extender from toyota, Spare Tire lock, Sound System Makeover, Tacoma All-Weather heavy duty rubber floor mats. Rear TSB, Icon Coilovers w/ TC UCA's and 3inch rear block with rear 5100 bilstein shocks, Black Headlights, Grillcraft black grill, Devil Horns from Andres, Black Headlights, Chrome Liquid Metal Gatlins Wheels, 285/70R17 Nitto Tera Grapplers, Wet Okole Seat Covers! I was gonna post a thread about this but did a quick search instead.

I always worry about my bed extender getting stolen but in over 2 years its still there everyday thankfully. I am gonna try some type of tie down to the D-Ring though now that I read this.

    Thanks :)

I have a cable through mine. The pop a lock seems like a sure fix and less hassel.
