While installing mounts for Lomax tonneau I broke 2 fasteners(bolts). They are located at rear of bed near the top. Have tried to locate a parts diagram without success. Put in the allen screw temporarily but prefer original fastener. Anyone know the part number or size bolt?

Not personally but I'd stop into a dealership and at least get the part number. If it's reasonable I'd just get it there, if it seems like a lot I'd shop around.

Its just a metric bolt with a welded nut on the other side. Probably the same size as the other bolts that hold the tail light. I used that bolt (along with another hole that I drilled plus a new bolt) to add a D-ring in that spot on each side. You must have really torqued that bolt to break both of them. Solution: Remove the tail light and from the inside you can probably grab the threads and remove what's left from the inside. Take the remains to a hardware store to match the metric thread and length.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think the bolts are that strong but I probably over tightened them. It's near impossible to find diagrams of certain parts of a Taco. Toyota will want a young fortune for 2 bolts.

Small lift, slightly oversized tires, well...
M6, to tighten that size, I put the ratchet in my hand with the socket sticking out between my middle and ring finger and twist. Much more leverage than that and you risk twisting the head off like you have. I'm too lazy to look up the torque recommendation, it isn't much.

Spec on those is likely 10in-lbs or less.

Problem is they typically corrode a bit and it feels like they've got 20 to 30 in-lb to break them free which may actually be the case but if you try and put 20 to 30 in-lb back on that head tightening it... well, I guess you already found out what happens.

*edit: inch pounds, not foot pounds.
