Sorry to the thread police because i know i have seem the answer to this but i can't find it now on a quick search. Where do you tie in aftermarket bed lights to the overhead cargo light? Is running fwd to the drivers door the only path? If so what wrote is it? Doesn't seem to make sense being that toyota offers this option. Can't imagine they are taking that route and not having a wire by the bed or aft wall of the truck. For a plug and play part.

Follow the wiring instructions in the PDF below.

BTW, the bed lights are not actually an option offered by Toyota, but by certain distributors. That is why there is nothing prewired. No factory option would require the use of taps.

There is an existing connector for bed light switch and one for power for the switch/lights.

I purchased the switch and a plug for the existing power connection If I remember correctly, the only splicing I had to do was soldering the plug I purchased to the bed light wires. The existing plug went to the switch, the new plug went to the existing female socket, and everything was awesome.

I'll see if I can dig up the threads I used to put everything together.
