Bed lights - OEM

I'm sure that this has been covered somewhere on here, but I don't have time to go through the 2000+ What have you done to your third GEN lately thread. Lol.
I have the OEM LED bed light kit but want to have a dedicated switch in the bed. Is there any constant power to tie into back there? PS. I am NOT very knowledgeable when it comes to electronic stuff. Thanks!

The kit comes with enough length to run to the battery.

This is an extremely easy install (30-45min) & will light your whole bed! Very slick!

Don't waste time on the other set sell it on Craigslist.

I had them on my 2014, I know what's in the box. I sure miss them from my old truck, want to do them again in my 2017. The OEM cargo light just isn't strong enough and I have the factory tonneau cover.

Is there a thread somewhere about the bed lights by @mattgecko? Wondering what the install is like and how they turn on? Can they be hooked up the a push button switch?

Matt let me buy all the materials for less money then I soldered everything up myself. Took a extra 20-30 minutes before installing.

 

What do you need bed lights for?

I'm dense. Like...real dense. Like no common sense dense. Lots of times, unless something annoys me, I can't see something as a problem that needs to be resolved and work the hard way instead of the smart way DENSE. I've been camping and needed to get some stuff out and couldn't see well enough with the LED on top of the cab so I used a flashlight. But the few times I go camping I could use a flash light rather than do an install. Is there anything else that LED bed lights could help with that I'm not even thinking of?

Light bulb in my head is not going off. It has to be a real convenient thing since people are installing. I just can't come up with a reason. My guess is, I've had a few instances where it may have been helpful, but I've probably forgotten what those instances were once they passed.

Shed some light on this. I think I want them and I need a few good reasons to tell wifey why I must have them.

 

My truck bed light comes on when I unlock my truck with the keyfob. To the left of your steering wheel is a light switch for the bed. Flip the switch in the middle, it comes on when dome lights come on.

Your oem light kit should come with that interior light switch for the bed light.
