Bed lights

I have a 2023 access cab v6…I just got the truck and was just wondering if the bed lights are wired behind the taillights.it doesn’t have cargo lights and only the interior light switch up by the sunglasses holder..dummy plugs are in the bed.

 

The wiring is there for the bed lights (the lights come in a kit that's reasonably priced, and super easy to install). But for an Access Cab, you also need the dash switch. This costs as much as the lights themselves. And depending on your trim level, you may or may not need the relay that plugs into the firewall behind the dash switch.

Here's a picture of the dash switch. It's the one at the lower left.

 

A jumper with an On/Off switch does the job also...

just jump blue and purple and lights will work with doors.

With your help of course..

 

took the Taillights out..plugged them up...got some pin terminals here at work,made a jumper to connect the blue #5 to purple #9 and boom they was lit

 

Thanks for the info but which plug and where is the plug that needs to be jumped.

Edit: I dug a little deeper and it's the plug behind the panel where the on and off switch is supposed to go.

 

someone needs to make a plug n play jumper for us 2020 and older tacomas so we can enjoy this too. would love some bed lights. Ski

So if I understand correctly if I have a 2022 double cab with the bed light switch I should be able to just buy the kit and it's plug and play?

These could either be port, dealer, or owner installed. But not installed at the factory. It's an official accessory kit.

 

That's strange because I have heard of quite a few sr models with them hooked up.

My guess would be the dealer but either way its nice having them good to go.

What do you mean by "port"?
