Lol it's a plastic bed. Water has no effect on it.

All the dirt and dust mixes with the water and makes a fine mess when you pull the mat out. Wasn't concerned about the plastic getting rusty !! LOL

Lets keep this thread going.......................... how about using Saran wrap as an alternative to floor mats. Less weight and can be removed and replaced easily.

    Just kidding.

OP's suggestion is a good cheap DIY mod, only thing missing is that you can get that anti slip tape in bright yellow for that parking lot look.

3" lift on 33 inch Nitto's with 18" Fuel wheels. N-Fab step bars. Husky floor liners.
Guess none of you are hunters. I love my bed mat but if you put a deer back there and blood gets under that mat you better pull it out and rinse everything off. It gets to stinkin after a few days. I keep a heavy tool box up against the cab and have to move it to get the mat out. All good though. I would still rather have the mat. Still a good idea for some folks.

That was one of the first things I thought of when I got mine. Coming from a spray in liner in my 04 to this mat is going to make below freezing cleanup a pain..but still worth it.

Only aesthetic mods so far Leer 180 cap & Clazzio covers on order.
This is true - BUT they have to be able to get to the water surface to breed.

I like the mat for another reason not mentioned...no need for an old tire in the bed to haul around engines and/or transmissions. The oe mat has just enough give to secure either one without them sliding. It's a bit of a pain to maneuver a big block on the rubber mat, but it's better than keeping old junk tires laying around as mosquito breeding grounds.

It’s so embarrassing when I have to ask my neighbors to help me remove my bed mat when I need to clean under it.

I use a bed rug, they’re made from recycled milk jugs. It stays put as well as anything you put on it. sold on Amazon
