I bought some cheap rubber floor mats at Walmart - the cheapest ones they have. It is a soft rubber that can be rolled up and kept behind your seat, not the thick textured mats with the grooves in them. When I load something that might slip I just throw these mats under it. Works great and was probably no more than $10. Mine are a 4-piece set, universal car/suv mats, but there was also a single longer piece for use in vans between the rear seats - these might work better for your use.

(Also, to get more use out of it, when we camp we use it in the public showers to stand on - you never know who pee'd on the shower floor before you :D)

Also, check the sports department. There are mats that you put under your exercise equipment to protect your floors and keep equipment from sliding around.
These might not work in an open bed since they are light and might blow off, but in a cap it works great to keep things from sliding around, and it is cheap.

I bought a bed mat from Tractor Supply. Sits on the factory bed floor, zero roll and hardly any cargo slid.
I've got a tonneau cover and every few months I roll the cover back and pull the mat and let the floor dry. I hardly get any water in the bed and that rolls down and under the mat.

Just got this at Walmart. In the exercise section. Was $23.97. Rolls up easy, not too thick or heavy.
