Odd mine off-gassed for about 2 weeks and that was that. No stink. I suppose 115 degree weather for 100 days in a row wiped it out.

In what country do you have 50 days in a week?

Oh... haha - yea that was an odd looking post. So in Arizona we typically have 100 days in a row of 100~115 and in any given
2 week period that would be enough to off-gas any stink... I think that's a better way to put it 'eh ?

Ha. Me too. I must be pretty scent free because I have to go out and chase the fuckers away.... No scent seems to bother them. I'd put a bed mat out there if it kept them away.

I was mountain biking the other day and they just stood in the trail until I was a couple feet away from them.

A bed mat isn't the reason you're not bagging deer.

How many 150” plus bucks can you bag from your yard and if it’s several can I get permission to hunt? haha! I don’t subscribe to the hard core scent control game, but rather just play the wind. We have anywhere from 50-100 deer in our back 40 every evening but I’ve seen exactly zero 150” plus bucks in 10 years here outside of them running through during the rut.

On topic, my bed mat is a year old and still smells awful after sunning and several washings… oh well

I have bed mat made out of an old piece of drum barker conveyer belt from a pulp mill. When sun hits, it smells like a balsam fir twigs. When moose hunting I just drive slowly on a forestry access road and moose come running. Moose love balsam fir!

I have no clue what you are talking about lol. My friends all hunt for the meat and I get free jerky, ground and backstrap. When I lived in the woods in WV I had to chase them away. Now I live in the woods (and fields ) of SC and I have to chase them away. Maybe they like my smell?

Haha, antlers are measured in inches so the bigger the rack the more inches a deer is scored. That size comes with age and with age comes an amazing ability to avoid being killed. I wouldn’t say big bucks are necessarily smart but they definitely know what smells equal danger and have a serious sense of self preservation.

I must smell like a deer then.
And, certain members of the human race have their racks measured in inches too.

Put it in the sun. UV and heat will dissipate the smell. This is the best solution.

I left it another week and flipped both sides for direct sun exposure. Some rain and freezing temps. And now it doesn’t smell much

Mine took about 3 months or so for the pungent smell to stop...I got it December 2021.

EDIT: No tonneau cover on my Sport...yet!

Idk, seems every time my mat sees sun for any amount of time, and warms up, it stinks more. As long as its under the tonneau cover there's little to no smell

Sun is helping. I also cleaned it this morning with a Method cleaner and a brush. Seems like it took off a lot of that shiney aspect to it, which was a plus.
