I have a 2nd Generation Tacoma but thought maybe this topic would work here also. In need of a bed mat for my 6-foot bed I searched online. Most are over a 100 bucks which would be fine but being a hillbilly I always used mine conveyor belt for my work trucks which was free. I wanted something a little nicer for this truck, so my wife takes me to Rural King, her favorite store. She showed me a heavy-duty barn mat for horses to stand on. The mat was 4'X6'X3/4”, so it was purchased for 39.99 + tax.

To install it I made a template from cardboard & used it to cut for the wheel wells. I'm happy with the mat but it will be heavy to take out & in for cleaning. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

A very resourceful idea. Looks great, should be perfect for long term use.

It is a heavy mat for sure & will be around a long time. I'm not sure what effect the sun will have on it yet, that remains to be seen.

I actually have the Toyota brand bed mat, it was exposed to the California sun continuously for 5 years until I got my camper shell. It didn't discolor or have any other wear. It is also very stiff and heavy, so never had any concern about it blowing out of the bed of the truck at highway speed. I have seen a lot of the plastic drop in bed "liners" littering the highways in CA over the years, as people would just drop them in, not secure them, and the wind hits the inside of the tailgate, causes a vortex, which can get under the edge of a liner 0r bed mat, and can lift them right out of the truck.

No danger of this thing blowing out either. I really like the Toyota brand mat like you have. They look sharp for sure.

Thank you. It was Barbara's idea. I walked by those mats a dozen times but never thought of using one for the truck.
