rotated tires changed oil threw out the old air freshener.
The proper torque specification for ant fastener, using the "torque to angle" method, is 1/4 turn before it all goes mushy!

    DO NOT USE HAYNES DATA!

I did an engine on a TR4 many years ago, wet sleeves! Followed the Haynes data... WAY TOO LOW!
That cost me big time when the head gasket started passing water.!

I used my torque wrench to back them off and they broke free between 50-55lbs. I retightened to 50 lbs after aligning the bed better.

That was how I determined 60ft-lbs, but it is a bit lower. See attached.

Note that 60ft-lb has worked for my Taco for about 6yrs now.

So if I'm reading it right, according to the Toyota Tacoma Collision Repair Manual it appears that it's only 44 ft lbs ? Can somebody else please take a look and confirm that?

    I got this from google.

The recommended torque for the T55 Torx bolts on a Third Generation Toyota Tacoma bed is 60 ft-lb (foot-pounds). It's important to tighten these bolts gradually and make sure the bed is in good condition, as there are metal collars to support the load.

A good place to practice using your new torque wrench would be lug nuts.
Do 1 wheel at a time.
Loosen all lug nuts and leave the lug nut nearest to valve stem to last.
Only loosen to a little to more than finger tight.
Set torque to 84 ft lbs
Tighten lugs in a criss cross type pattern and leave the one closest to valve stem for last.
Once done go around all nuts in a circle pattern to double check.
Once you're done loosen torque wrench to zero to relieve stress on it.
That would ne a good time co check tire pressures since you're already there.
    Have fun.

reminds me I want to add D-rings to the forward bolts....the raised tie down spots are useless for anything you want to hold down to the bed

Yes 44 ft. lbs. I found it in the 3rd gen frame replacement guide.
