Hello, I have a 2019 Tacoma and recently installed a canopy. I have 3 dogs that I lug around sometimes in the bed, but now that colder weather is here I thought I could plug in a electric blanket for the dogs to lay on and keep themselves warm. Well, the heated blanket is not working with the bed outlet (I tested it with a regular plug inside the house just to make sure it wasnt defected) I then realized its not working with the bed outlet because the amperage of the blanket is above 4 amps. I've searched online and cant find a electric blanket with low amps.

So, my next thought is to install a 12V plug in the bed, and use a electric blanket that plugs into a 12V. Has anyone installed on in the bed? Working ok?

Amp x volts = watts and the electric blanket was over 400W that’s why it didn’t work. A similar 12V blanket will be 30-40A and about the same watts and the same result. Even if you find one that will run, it’ll drain your battery pretty fast.

I’d get a couple sub zero down sleeping bags, no electric required.

I installed 15A worth of 12v power in the bed of my truck. One side has a cig plug and dual USB and the other dual cig plugs. Works great. We use it for charging phones/cameras, running our fridge, and then running misc LED lights and our 12v heated blankets in the RTT when it is cold out.
