I just finished up my raised platform for my short bed. The plan is to use the underneath for storage and the top area for the dogs. The pics still show my tonneau cover, which is going up for sale as soon as my Leer 100XL topper comes in. I've noticed that two UNTREATED 2x4's were the best fit. 2x6's were to narrow and 2x8's were two wide. I tried pressure treated 2x4's but those were two wide when I used two side by side. I picked up the darkest carpet that Lowe's had, pretty cheap at only .51 cents per sq ft.

    Gents,

I used 23/32" plywood for the decking. The (4) 2x4's were cut at 56 3/4". I built it in two pieces, no hinges, so I could remove it easier once my topper is installed.

The plywood was 28 1/4" wide and just shy of 60" long for a short bed. I scribed the corners for a more exact fit once the plywood was cut to the sizes above... It's a snug fit against the tailgate once it's shut but should get better once the carpet relaxes a bit.

I glued down the carpet with "carpet glue" and then stapled the back. The carpet is very stiff and takes quite a bit of effort to get it to look good on the top.
