Just like the title says, I have an Access brand tonneau cover that bolts onto the tie down rail. I am just thinking it would be nice to have a metal bed rack above the cover so I can transport things on top of the cover.

I searched high and low a couple months ago and didn't find any racks off the shelf that would fit and allow a tonneau cover on a 2nd gen.. I did find a Taco online somewhere with custom made aluminum plates on top of the bed that mounted the rack mounts outboard far enough for the tonneau.

There are a few systems out there that I know of, but both will most likely require modifications to work along with the Tacoma.

Prorac Doesn't exactly work with the Access covers.

Adarac Chevy, Ford, Dodge only, but comes from Access.

Search the forum here. Some of the members have put T-track style roof rails on the bedsides from Thule/Yakima and made things work.

Edit : Go figure, surf the forum and find another thread with a pic in less than a minute. Racks thread

As TAOScott said above, the Prorac has the rack/tonneau combo. I just installed the rack yesterday -

This is a picture of the rails used (bolts into tie-down rails) for both the rack and the cover. The benefit of this rack set-up is that the verticals are outside of the bed - allowing the full unobstructed cover.

The rack is sold separately from the cover and comes with the rails - so if you could modify the Access cover to bolt into these rails (not familiar with Access installation) then maybe this setup could work for you.

Hopes this helps or at least contributes to the thought process!
