Love the racks, just posted on another thread that I was thinking of doing that to haul kayaks. (need to get the truck first)

"Nowadays" you say? Shameless use of the flag is hardly anything new. For decades I've been able to buy a American flag paper plate set with matching napkins, use the flag to wipe potato salad and bbq sauce off my face, then throw them in the American flag trash can complete with American flag trash bags. Later on I can wipe my ass with American flag toilet paper on my American flag toilet seat. Before bed, I can jump into my matching American flag thong and flip flops, and bang a hooker with an American flag condom and an American flag dildo. Everything I just mentioned violates the US Flag Code. Whoring our flag out is certainly not new. The douchey flag on that website with the spartan design? Absolutely violates flag code, not to mention looks tacky as fuck.

This debate can be settled in a (somewhat) factual manner - and that's why we have the US Flag Code. Technically, the way it is displayed on this hood is against the Section 7(b) of the flag code: "The flag should not be draped over the hood, top, sides, or back of a vehicle or of a railroad train or a boat. When the flag is displayed on a motorcar, the staff should be fixed firmly to the chassis or clamped to the right fender." Now before you say it's not an actual flag, according to Flag Code, "a flag is anything by which the average person seeing the same without deliberation may believe the same to represent the flag." So yes, it's a flag and by code should not be draped on the hood. As far as being distressed well, that's in the flag code too. Section 8(k) states, "The flag, when it is in such condition that it is no longer a fitting emblem for display, should be destroyed in a dignified way, preferably by burning." So....that covers that.

Personally, this decal hardly seems disrespectful. It's not my style, but it's not my truck either. Plus, Texas sun beats on the hood pretty bad, and decals can leave ghosting on paint in a short amount of time. Also, the Flag Code is strictly voluntary, and because we have free speech, you can't get penalized for not playing by the rules. Rest assured, our 'Murca Fuck Yeah picnics and orgies are safe.

Also random right wing rants never cease to entertain. "I got a flat tire, THANKS OBAMA." Funny thing is, Trump wants anyone who violates Flag Code to be punished with a loss of citizenship or 1 year in jail. Obviously that will most likely not happen, but I'd hate to see people locked up or kicked out of the country for distressed flag hood decals. Maybe I'm just being a crazy liberal .
