    Hi all,
Anyone got any bed rack recommendations for surfcasting? Want to be able to transport surf rods while on the beach and have a secure box or something for tackle and what not. I mainly fish open beaches in the north east and looking to get my rig(trd off road 2020 long bed)ready for the fall run. Any advice or pics of fishing trucks much appreciated.

I've seen a lot of people around here with DIY setups that lock their pole up on the roof rack. I suppose you could setup something very similar on a bedrack though. They're usually DIY versions of these: https://riversmith.com/products/river-quiver. Typically a PVC pipe fitted to a lockable waterproof case on the back for the reel. Many companies also make locking cubby doors for the OEM cubbies in the bed, but if you want to fit a larger tackle box, you might look into a locking box that attaches to the bed rails.

That’s cool, I wonder if someone makes something similar for surf rods, I’ll have to dig around. Thanks!

How long are your surf rods? Im not surf casting, but I use 7f heavy rods at the river. I have a ski rack that I use to hold the rods, then the basket holds plano sportsman totes with fishing gear in them. I just have it mounted on a home made set of bed bars (1x1 box tube and 90 degree mounts for the rails)

I use 7 to 12 foot rods with the real seat being up to 18” from rod butt. Your rig looks pretty sick. I think I may need a rack that’s level with the roof.

Yeah, with lengths like that your either going to need a ladder rack type thing, or angle the rods from the tailgate forward.

Riversmith is nice but brutally expensive.

I wish they made those carriers for spin/conventional gear but I guess it’s difficult with the real seat higher up.

Is the height adjustable on these?

    No.

    You can choose from 10", 14", 18", and 22"

If using with a tonneau cover, our tonneau brackets add 2.5" to the height of the rack.

The KB Voodoo locking cabinet/rack combo works great. I have it on a 10" long bed rack on my short bed and having lockable, secure storage is really nice.
