    Hey All!

Hope the days going well. (please excuse the shitty render)

I've been mulling over, as I'm sure many of you have too, whether to stick with the canopy sleeping situation, or get a rooftop tent.

If a rooftop tent (hardshell), do you just get an "over canopy rack" or get rid of the canopy and get regular a regular bed rack and loose the dry lockable storage below!??!...
I am almost sure that I'll go with one of the new Bush Companies Alpha rtt's (not the alpha in the photo), but want to find a suitable bed rack to put it on.

There is a CBI bed rack on my local craigslist that I'de like to scoop, but need some input/ideas on how to get enough clearance for the tent to go above the roof, and not hang off the ass end..(as seen in photos). Could be a regular set of bars to gain the extra 6 or so inches, but will that mess with the load capacity/sturdyness of the setup...etc

Please refer to white arrow and bars in the first photo under tent to indicate the space needed to be filled-

I have seen a few people put them on and have the ass end of the tent stick off the back of the bed, but this doesn't seem practical to me at all. (Image attached)

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

bump. not sure it will be practical to combine a 12" bed rack with a hardshell rtt because they're longer and hang off the back of the bed. any recommendations or am i SOL?
