This is exactly the reason I ordered this rack up. Also like that it’s adjustable and you can move it to different vehicles if need be. I went with bare aluminum so I don’t have to worry about shipping getting it scratched up.

Now that the Datin Fab racks have been around for a while and Softopper sells them via their website, any TW members have a review they’re willing to share?

My dream truck (‘22 TRD Sport 4x4 DCLB) is built and on its way to the dealership soon, and I’ll immediately need a bed cover solution for a long-distance move. Seems like Softopper plus bed rack is the way to go and the Datin one looks pretty good.

Thanks in advance and I promise I’ll post my review here if I end up going this route.

Those of you who did softopper and bed rack... What order did you put weather stripping? Anything below the bed rack brackets? Or bed rack brackets directly against the bed side then weatherstrip on top of that?

I didn't add any weather stripping at all, it stays pretty dry in there.

Ok so you just kept the original softopper weatherstripping and that's it? Mine needs to be changed out it's been 7 years

Yep, we kept the original stripping.

If yours needs to be changed, you can use almost anything from Home Depot. I don't think there's anything special about the weatherstripping that they used from the factory. Honestly the stuff they used from the factory is kind of chintzy.

I didn't use any additional weather stripping either. Dissent Offroad bed and cab rack over the Softopper. Worked great. Very little, to no water ,or even dust, in the Softopper. Guess it time to sell the Bed, cab racks and Softopper considering I have moved on to a Super Pacific, which I am very happy with as well.

Thanks for the pics. Do you know if you remove the cross bars can you fold up the softopper with this rack?

Yes you can. You can also set the crossbar height so you can fold the Softtopper without having to remove the crossbars, but I didn’t like that look because the crossbars seemed too high.

Problem: Having a hard time mounting my new Kammock Crosswing awning (t-slot nuts) to the HMO bed rack (off the rear of the truck). I can jimmyrig something with clamps, but now I am thinking about installing two t-slot long bars (front to back) on the bed rack bars. This will allow me to easily mount and remove other items as well.

    Here's what I ordered: https://amzn.to/3D36yXu

Trying to decide how I want to mount this through the HMO bars. I'm thinking I will need to drill a hole all the way through and use a bolt/nut to secure them. Any other ideas? Don't have much space underneath the bars for the bottom of the screw and nut to go before they are hitting the softoppper.

It's a 4 pack... So i think I'll use the other two pieces as crossbars for left to right if these work out.

I would love to hear your thoughts. Cross-posting this in another softopper thread.

Does your softtopper rack fit fine with your 2nd gen side rails? I installed some and noticed i'll have to mod the softopper clamps as they won't tighten now as the extra height from the factory rails is gone.

I'm wondering now if this will now cause issues with your, or any other bed racks. It looks like some bed rack mounts dont have height adjustment at the mounting points.

If anything it should fit better with our side rail caps.
