I am looking for a bed rack to possibly hold a roof top tent. But given the weight of the tent, my family, gear, etc. I want to be safe and find a bed rack that has a static load capacity of 1,000 pounds. That is ideally but I could do with less. In my search it is not clear what the static load capacity is and I wondered if a thread could serve as a valuable resource for this community.

I have the Thule Xporter but the static load capacity on that is only 450 pounds (from what I can tell).

My favorite rack is the one from BAMF because it bolts into the bed floor (not sure why other people don't do this). I don't know that static load capacity on that but have sent an email to see if I can find out. This is my favorite rack.

My second (and close favorite) is the rack system from Leitner which has a load capacity of 1,000 pounds (static). Pricey but seems completely worth it. I don't like drilling into the truck bed (as opposed to bolt on like the one from BAMF) but I completely understand why that needs to be done. Also, great video on the history of the company -- truly innovative family so I would be inclined to support them.

Anyone else care to add bed racks with high static load capacity? I don't worry too much about the off road load capacity because most of my use would not be in the realm of serious off roading.

Look forward to any data points people have to share.

Brute force fab also bolts to the bed floor not the bed sides. Don't know the weight rating though.

My total bad. I actually meant Brute Force not BAMF ! Apologies that I mixed that up.

Anything that's going to be rated that high will have to go to the floor & will probably require drilling. I assume you've got a family in a big RTT so it shouldn't be a big deal if you're parked but keep in mind our trucks have a max payload of approx 1000-1200 depending on your model. Something to keep in mind if you've got 3+ humans, heavy RTT, super heavy bed cage, other misc cargo. You could exceed GVWR.

You make a good point. I could be wrong but the Brute Force requires no drilling but rather screws into the existing bed bolts. I hear you completely on exceeding the trucks maximum payload and depending on the rack weight and the tent weight I think I can manage that (at least I hope that I can). My thinking was to start with the load capacity of the bed rack and then go from there. As soon I as find the load of the Brute Force one I will post it here. Otherwise, I may have to hold out for the Leitner (beautiful product and I understand that given the quality the cost makes sense but I am still looking for something that costs less if possible. If not, at least I tried).
