Bed Rail Ammo Can

Check your local Tractor Supply, last week they had new 30 and 50 cal cans without any stencils for under 12 bucks.

 

CostCo has pallets of combo (30/50) for $14.99 as I recall. I've got mil surplus cans already that I got for cheap but if someone is in the market that's a killer deal for new.

40mm boxes is what I think will work best for me. Just wish the lids hinged. Seen someone using these in a different thread.

The 40mm cans are perfect size for me. But thats a good deal on 50cal cans for sure.

 

Harbor freight just sent a super coupon

 

Had some empty cans lying around so decided to give it a go for myself. Had to mount a small C channel bracket between the bed wall and the can to stop it from bouncing around but it came out looking clean.

 

Looks great! Did you mount the channel to the bed wall or the can?
I have 2 40mm boxes come today. They are taller and will sit on the wheel well. I'm hoping that helps to stop them from bouncing around. I've been thinking about adding rubber feet to them to help even more. Have to see how it goes.

You could also use these as feet on the can.

what do y'all keep in these cans? just curious...like small hand tools or whatever?

 

Im going to keep tool kits, recovery ropes, and back up part for work. I just got home to find my boxes have arrived. A lot larger than I though they would be. But I'll make them work.

 

Not quite as tall as I was hoping. But with @1mike1888's idea. I can make them work. I'll use something similar as a stop beteen the mourning rail and the box to make more room for the kids to come on and off. I will also have a find a new home for my extinguisher. But I'll get it all worked out soon enough.

Since i don't have a truck bed camper shell if i was to set mine in the same location on the wheel well how far would it sit about the bed rail?

I ordered the 50cal it looks like thats twice the size i might have to see if i need more room for storage ill have to go with that. thanks for the help
