Lift off the caps and measure the existing holes first, you may find the ones you want to use without drilling. There are several up there. The caps are easy to take off and put back on. Don’t forget to insert the corners before you put the side caps back in.

I just installed bed rails and had to drill through the plastic top cap and metal underneath. I lucked out and got it right the first time. There is not much room to work with under there. The composite bed walls take up a lot of the space. I took the storage boxes out and it made it easy to get at things on the back of the bed but the front had no easy way to do it. Dont laugh but I had my wife thread the bolt through while I held it in place with a curtain rod from underneath. I could not get my arm up in there that far and could not use extensions. The nut I was using fit into the end of the curtain rod and it held up long enough to get the bolts snugged. Mickey Moused that one.
