    LS1 swap with nitros.
So the consensus is... better and easier to pull 8 Torx bolts, remove the bar, paint it, and replace versus dealing with ___________ (insert your own adjective) Toyota corporate.

Depends how hard headed you are. I like to make people responsible pay, i'm not responsible.
The bill to toyota was nearly 200 dollaronies that i'd rather put towards mods.

And there's a difference between paint and actually having it coated by a pro. I use this as a step onto my roof and don't trust "paint"

But yes, in theory its an easy fix.

This is what was done to mine http://linex.com

As for paint, i'd assume any durable sprayable bed liner.

Did you also had it painted under the head rail or on top only? Have ordered a head rail and will have the thing painted as well but not sure if to pain on top only or the hole thing?

The "defective" part are you calling headrail or the cleat rail?
The defective part i removed and had the entire thing LINE-EX'd. Top, bottom, sides, all of it.
Not sure why you would order a new head rail when you have one..
    Maybe i'm misunderstanding your question.

If your talking about the cleat rail, theres nothing wrong with it, definitely would not paint it.

How do you call 1 and 2?
1- will take to be painted. Did you paint area A also since is under 2?

    UPDATE:
I had my bed header Line-X coated and I don't like it, is way too shiny for my taste. I should have powder coated instead, I may end up buying a new one.
If any local member has one that is showing signs of corrosion and want to swap let me know.

Ya same results on mine. Don't mind considering my rig's gloss black, I did prefer the OEM finish tho.

I was told by my reputable powder coat shop to line-x it not coat it tho.

    ^^^
I peeled off mine, the Line-X came off like a tape. A few spots needed to be scraped but no problem.
I will check to have it powder coated like the wheels. Hope better quality.

Painter's tape would stick better than Line-X...
