I'll install the Quick Fists onto the bed rail mounts eventually. Not in a rush because I need to figure out a way to use them. I was actually considering bolting them to the sides of the bed, without using the bed rails. My issue is that I have a BakFlip tonneau cover which takes up the side bed rails.

I'm not sure what I want to do: I can either sell my tonneau cover and get a bed rack or a camper shell to free up the side bed rails. Downside of the bed rack is loss of security of personal property I usually have stored in the bed; and also the loss of protection of my belongings from rain and salt water/air. Downside of camper shell...significant cost and not a fan of the look (if I wanted an SUV, I would have gotten a T4R).

I already have the bed rail directly behind the cab used for the hi-lift with mounts.

I bought these in advanced in case the prices go up or they are no longer available. :D

I do have to say...packing was solid and shipping/delivery was fast. From the initial inspection, the quality is top notch, too. Thanks again, Zac!

How did you mount the ammo cans? What size? That would be bad ass to keep some of my tools in one and fly fishing gear locked away in the other. Also, is it quick fists?? Where did you buy them? What size?

I bought carriage bolts from home depot, 1/2" will fit in your bed rails. Drilled a couple holes in the side of the cans, slide bolts into rails, mount ammo can and done.

You will need to but a spacer/washer between the bed rails and the cans though. If not you may run into issues closing the ammo cans.

Small Quick fists hold the fishing rod handles, and i use velcro straps to hold the rod ends.

Awesome! Good to hear they made it there ok. I have a back flip g2 bed cover and i have been thinking about cutting notches out of the bed cover mounting rails to free up space on the rails. I ended up gettting a rack and havent thought too much more about it...

So i just designed one of these....
They can be used to mount CB antennas or light pods. Mount them as the are in the picture for a CB antenna, flip it over for a light pod mount! If you flip them they sit level with the bed rail caps.
More pictures coming of them mounted! Just wanted to post them up to see if there is any interest. $20 for a single mount painted w/hardware, $30 for a pair painted w/hardware shipped to your door!

Let me know what you think!

Yeah i hear you on that. That is why i dont have anything too expensive in the back, that way if it gets stolen it not hurting me much to replace it. Hi-lift and ax/shovel combo will have cable locks to deter theft soon.

I am currently running the Rotopax brand tacoma bed mounts and they are not that great. They do not have a lower brace, they are just straight down. They also sit a little to high, they rest up against the upper bed rail causing them to tilt....oh and don't get me started on the rail anchor nut they send you. It would be nice to have one like the HiLift mount you make, where it has a 90° at the bottom for bracing.

I can work on a rotopax specific mount. This kind of feed back is awesome for designing "better" brackets. I need to buy one so that i can play with the mounts and find out what would work the best.

Also those maybe better for the bed side rails. The walls stick out a bit and i think that the mounting plate would sit flat against the bed sides. However you have a 4 gallon tank and other stuff already mounted so you need better ones! haha.

    So a couple questions...
    1. How far would you like the rotopax to extend away from the bed wall?
    2. Can you measure the gap between these mounting holes?
    3. upload_2017-8-1_16-52-32.jpg
    4. Will your rotomax mount under a bed cover with the current mounts?

I would like it to sit level, as you can see....it is at an angle.

2.Can you measure the gap between these mounting holes?

Yes I can get you that info tomorrow.

3.Will your rotomax mount under a bed cover with the current mounts?

Yes they will, the issue is the the top portion is just a tad too high and is pressed up against the bed cap as you can see in the picture, this is what is causing it to be at an angle.

I see what you are talking about where the plate hits the cap... i will look at mine to make sure that mine dont do that.

Ok here is the spacing for the actual rotopax mount measured for center to center. I will get the other measurements that you asked for soon, I have been super busy with work.

    Thanks!!

Can you measure the distance from the bed rail mounting hole to the top of the gas can holder mount? You have it circled here in this photo, the gap between these 2 holes.

Just got back from a trip through some Colorado mountain passes. Went up to 13,114 ft and back down and never had any problems from my mounts! Hi-Lift secured, didnt rattle, and made it home! I think they stood the test!
