My local fastenal did not have the t-nuts in stock, neither did the hardware store. But Rockymounts is local and had these in stock:

Nice thing, you don't have to take the existing cleats out to put them in, they can fit in if you angle them through the bed rails.

I bought conduit clamps, put wing nuts on them and sprayed them with plasti dip.
    photo_590b8a129ed41ef6e629e9587a0eeb03dfb2a13c.jpg

I put a washer between the rail and the conduit clamp just for extra room, I sprayed those with plasti dip too.

Works like a champ and clears the cap. Plus the plasti dip keeps the shovel from rattling.

What did you make those out of those? The ones I got from Fastnel (black ones) are starting to rust...

Any chance you'd do a run of aluminum t-nuts with the appropriate metric thread? I can't be messing around with this inch crap.

    10ft "C-channel" Unistrut cut to 5ft x2
    4 1in x 3/8in bolts, nuts and washers
    4 "A24" Strong-Tie angle brackets

I'm not sure how strong this is going to be. I might swap out the C-channel unistrut for a full square version. Also, I gotta keep an eye on how the A24 angle bracket pieces stand up. Not bad for a first attempt.

I got the Unistrut from a buddy, but Home Depot has it for $16.10. The brackets are $3.15 each, $4 or so for the bolts, nuts and washers. Plus a can of bedliner spray paint for $8 (which I haven't done yet).

$40 plus tax seems about right.

I found a great solution by ordering the T-slot nuts only (8 for $20) from JP Metal Fabrication "Hook Up" product: http://www.jpmetalfab.com/products.html

I contacted the company by email and was able to order 8 billet aluminum t-slot nuts that are light weight and are perfect for the rail. They are slightly longer than the gap in the rail and easily clear the bolt holding the track. This did not include the bolts but I found perfect bolts at Home Depot.
