^ This. And one I came within a 1/4” of drilling through a couple of months ago when I installed an in-bed tool box

Yikes! Good on you for missing it.

I save a person from nicking the filler neck before they installed a tonneau drain. If ever there was a need for an actually useful warning sticker or two . . .

I know what you mean. I’m normally more careful then that but I was in a hurry, wanted to re-use the existing holes in the toolbox and just eyeballed it real quick. I got lucky that’s for sure!

It certainly isn't a typical location for a charcoal canister, but that probably has something to do with the returnless system.

They early ones had the pedal cut. Later ones received a replacement. Mine is still open and outstanding. Pedal was never an issue, idiots double stacking mats was.

    Sorry OP

Personally, i wouldn't care if they lifted the bed. Then again, i received the replacement frame service, so my entire truck was lifted off.

With all the stuff attached to the fuel tank, I'd say it's almost easier to remove the bed for this job.

The worst one I’ve had to deal with was a Charcoal Canister R/R on an ex GF’s early 2000’s Lexus ES300. Bonus that the car was lowered so it was even harder to access. That one sucked.

No fun there. I looked through the different fuel pump recalls. Only a couple looked easy with rear seat access. I'd hate to deal with the tank area on any modern car.

Keep that recall open as long as you can. That recall was dumb.

Fuggers cut my pedal when they swapped frames. I made the service writer physically write it down in front of me not to. Noted that my husky liners could no way trap the pedal and that the tacomas TBW assembly was made by a different manufacturer than the ones at issue during the 'Unintended acceleration' debacle. What a shite show that was.

Probably a misinformed service writer thinking fuel pump access would be the same as a Camry...

Update from OP: Tech ended up dropping the tank (1/4 full). No lifting of bed. Two hour job including lube, oil filter, safety check. (Had a 2021 Tacoma loaner. Nice truck. No POS shifting issues.)

OEM Kings tuned from Filthy, Deaver Exp 1, SPC UCAs, 5.29 diffs. Dash mounted 1/4 threaded accessory plate. And a TRD Pro grill...assuming I qualify for pro status.
Anyone aware of service departments rejecting the replacement of the fuel pump on the basis of modifications? To include VF tuning fuel management, rear seats removed with deck and heavy electrical from the double cab through to the bed including heavy grounding wire to the neck bracket, tank and undercarriage armor and a host of electrical runs and connections. No way in hell they can remove my bed or even lift it up with a cab molle and dual air compressor system mounted under the tonneau. I "think" they can drop the tank but maybe I need to pull the armor plate beforehand. I'm scheduled for June 4th so need to prepare it beforehand.

The repair instructions are to remove the tank. So they can not say anything about the cab or bed mods. They may charge you for removal of the skid though, so I recommend removing that before you bring it in.

They did mine by dropping the tank, call and ask. I bet they’re going to say to just remove the skid but that should be it.
