Not a big fan of having bikes on the back of my truck. I hate it when the mini vans on vacation have 5 bikes strapped to a trailer hitch rack. You can't see the brake lights or signals. And when someone runs into the back of me cause they couldn't see my brake lights, I don't need to be the one "at fault ". Just my 2 cents. To each their own

Or you could put the bikes on the roof like I did previously. Yakima Frontloader fits on the OEM Roof Racks.

I would like to have that option but I have an acess cab. Don't have the built in mounts for a roof rack. My rtt goes on my rack that I built. I designed it to work so I can still have my tonneau cover on. I am going to re work my rack and make brackets for bikes to be mounted on the sides of the rack

If I could figure out how to put pictures on here I would show you. I will have to get one of my kids to show me how lol. I can pull a motor and straighten frames on wrecks but can't upload pictures lmao. Maybe it's time to join the 50 plus thread lol

Here's how I look at it:

Bikes on the back - Pros: easy to get to load / unload, hardly if any wind drag | Cons: blocks tailgate, blocks tail lights, decreases departure angle

Bikes on the roof - Pros: doesn't increase lateral footprint of vehicle | Cons: harder to get to, heavy bike would make life annoying, wind drag, overall vehicle height

Bikes on the bedsides: - Pros: easy to get to, not a lot of wind drag, | Cons: might have to take front wheel off, increased width sucks for wheeling

I have thule side arms for my roof rack on my daily, but it's lower than my truck and lot easier to put bikes on the roof. For my truck, I like site mount bike racks, but now that I have a bed cage Sticking some steel on there and mounting bike racks to that would work. My ideal setup is one that i'm planning on in the future, which is a hitch mounted on a swingout:

I do like the idea in the picture. My suggestion would be to add some secondary taillights when you have all your gear on. Canadian tire sells different versions of auxiliary taillights that plug into your trailer lights. I just don't want to be the reason that Suzy cellphone can say she couldn't see my brake lights.
