Just to add on to this I have had mine since last December time frame and haven't experienced any problems having the holes in the rails. If anything they might have their advantages in being yet another area to allow any collected water to evaporate out, and not only that but any bed rail cap designed like these is going to have a gap at the sides because of the radiused edge of the Tacoma bedsides so any water will just blow out or exit in some shape or form.

And if it rains what is the difference in the tires kicking water all up into the bedsides and some rain going down into the holes?

I also noticed the raised "reinforcement" portions on the "other" design and i could be any issue for anyone wanting to mount some sort of topper flat to the rail. If you don't plan on a topper or mounting something flat to the rails then no problem but I run a Bestop and wanted a flat rail to provide as best a water tight seal as possible. I'm not trashing anyone elses versions, just providing an honest observation running KB Voodoos product.

I have talked to my friend with the long bed, and we are getting together to measure it up....TONIGHT!!!!

That's right, tonight. Parts will hit the plasma table as early as Monday, then get formed, then go to powder coat.

If everything falls into place, the long bed side rail caps should be ready to ship in 7 to 10 days.

Here is the link to pre-order the LONG BED SIDE RAIL CAPS

1/8" thick, because 14 gauge is tin foil.

TW promo code is TWSIDERAILSLB to save $10 off list price.

The number of sets that I make will be based on how many pre-orders I get.

Gasket material is 1/16" thick. How wide is it? Like does it cover the entire surface, or just 3/4"?
    Can we get 1/8" thick?

The gasket is 1/16" thick x 1/2" wide.

    It will look like this:

If you put 1/8" thick tape under it, you would be able to see the tape, so I don't recommend it.

Without reading through the whole thread do you sell just the piece that goes over the tailgate, make sense?
Reason I ask is I have a camper shell and it over extends past the plastic cap onto my paint and is starting to wear my paint off. I would need one that extends down probably an inch and a half to two inches past stock. Do you know what I am referring to?
I would also want to make sure that the new steel piece wouldn't make contact with my paint so I assume that is what the gasket is for?

I just read through it all and need a tailgate cap but I need it to extend further down about two inches. Would doing this cause any issues with closing the camper shell window?

The outside lip on my cap extends down exactly one inch, but it would probably still alleviate your problem.

Thirteen sets of long bed caps were plasma cut last night.

They will be formed tonight, and then taken to my powder coat guru tomorrow night.

Everything will be ready to ship Monday!!

A little over half the batch was pre-ordered, so get them while they're hot.

I put the order in the other day including a tailgate cap when you first posted. After nagging you for the LB version did you really think I would miss out? :D
