If you think the bed is too small, then the bed is too small.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
It's comical to me that many can't live without their long bed and it's a whole 12 inches longer...

I've been told, by liars, that size doesn't matter. Wish I had an extra foot, or two. ;) DCSB FTW

    I have a POS 1989 Toyota pickup 1-ton V6 5 speed with a blown motor. I think it's 5400 GVWR, beat that 2nd gens, jk, and 7 foot bed!

I find it comical that many can't live without their short bed because they can't park a long bed because it's a whole 12 inches longer.

I had an 09 DCLB Sport that I had to replace last month. The six foot bed served me well for 4.5 years. I have a six foot slide-in camper that I carried with the tailgate up (allowing full use of the backup cam). I considered going to a full size truck but was frustrated that I the Tundra and the Silverado only had a 5.5 foot box available with the full size crew cab. Total capacity of the box is probably greater but the length is more useful to me than width. For extra hauling capacity I have a box trailer made from a Chevy S10. If I have serious work to do I go with the F450 12' dump bed, but that's just a handful of times per year.
I went with the DCLB again and expect it to serve me well, once I get the ride rite air bags installed.

It's about 6.6 cu ft larger than the short bed. Thats a lot of extra space for people that use the truck for hauling.

I can park my DCLB anywhere. Gasp! Even in my???garage!
Turned down buying a few houses though because it wouldn't fit.

I have an 07 tacoma double cab short bed sport and have helped countless people and myself move and honestly haven't had any problems at all.. All you need is a net, some rope, or some clamps and your good... And the duel cab is great for other people its like the best of both worlds... I honestly filled up the bed to the max like the Grinch stole christmas status above the roof with random things helping one of my friends move and the tacoma drove like a champ. Hope this was some help

Coming from someone with a DCLB that goes wheeling with it...
If you need the double cab and you want to wheel (or make anything NEAR a tight turn), get the short bed.
If you don't care about getting high-centered, or about your turning circle, get the long bed.

But, as for me, sometimes I wish I had gotten the single cab, then bobbed the frame and put a short bed on it.

Sidenote: I have never had an issue parking my DCLB.

I have a short bed and I like the look, and it's a little easier to drive. So far I haven't needed a larger bed. I helped a buddy move his two bedroom apartment, and with my bed full, and towing the big U-Haul trailer we got 90% of his apartment in one trip.

If they made an Access cab on a DCLB frame with a idk i guess thatd be a ~7ft bed id buy it. :) I fill mine up easy but then again i use my taco for work. For typical household stuff the 6' is just fine. For me the 5' just wouldnt be enough, id rather have a 4runner

It all depends on how many times you think you will need that extra 1' of the bed. I have owned my short bed for 3 years and have never had a time that I couldn't haul what I needed to. There would have been times where the long bed would have been better, but the added length of the truck was not worth it for the few times it would have helped. Now if I could get the 6' bed on a short bed wheel base I would love that!

Get the truck you can get the best deal on. Small trailers in the 5x10 or 6x12 variety are relatively cheap. Around me they can be had for less the 1k. I went with the short bed and if I need it I can hook up the trailer and haul way more than I could with the extra foot of bed length. For hauling lumber I have a home made load extender something like this.

    http://www.etrailer.com/Hitch-Cargo...tml?feed=npn&gclid=CObc8cDZvLwCFRRo7AodCS8A-g

Have there been times I wish I had a bigger bed? Sure but not enough to pay the extra cost of a new truck over the deal I got on mine used.

Long bed DRIVES better on highway, less choppy, It is great in snow as well because it is little heavier on the back.
