I have a 5' bed. When I bought the truck, I didn't realize I had an option for a 6'. I did pick up a bed extender though. It's always been big enough for me. I did add a headache rack for moving ladders and longer lumber though.

Had a '03 SB TRD for years. This time I definitely went to the LB and w/o the TRD for a slightly softer ride. With the backup camera parking is no problem. NOW I can sleep in it if I need to; much better ride on the highway with the longer wheelbase v. my '03 SB. Virtually the same length as my F-150 Supercrew SB; just fits in the garage much easier.

I'm in a similar situation as the OP, although I don't think I'd want anything bigger than a Tacoma. From what the dealer tells me if I want a DC with auto it is only available with a 6ft bed, at least here in Canada.

I guess that's probably just as well as I'd probably be throwing a couple bicycles in the back semi frequently. My tape measure tells me that I'd have to leave the tailgate down to do this in a 5ft bed.

I'm definitely glad I went with the long bed. Hauling and camping are much easier with that extra foot of space. I think it looks better too.

I have a dual cab in addition to the long bed and have no problems parking it. Sometimes I need to straighten out in a parking space, but I wouldn't call that a problem. There are tons of people that have obvious parking problems in much smaller vehicles. It just depends on the driver's abilities and spatial awareness.

You didn't mention if you do off-roading. If you do, a short bed might be better.

Thanks again for all the information, it seems as though the long bed is the best option for me and my intended usage. I do not plan on four wheeling and I don't have space to store a trailer. I'm going to test drive one today or tomorrow.
