I've been to the drive-in a few times lately and had to bring a boom box, I was thinking the bed pockets I've never used would be a great spot for some speakers. I ordered some marine speakers and a small amp and now I have tunes when I tailgate.

I have an aftermarket radio, so I used an rca out to send signal to the amp (the speakers in the truck are powered by the radios built in amp). The blue remote turn on wire from the radio goes to a switch, so the amp will only turn on when the radio is on and I throw the switch.

If you take the pockets out and look in there with a mirror you'll see there's a perfect spot to run the wire at the top of bed side. I ran it through there with split loom to keep it safe. I then ran it down the bed and through the frame rail. I used some adhesive panduit clips for routing. Then brought it through a grommet/plug under the passenger seat. The amp could then in the center, under the seat or in the cargo area under the back seats. That's where there's some choice.

Thanks for the motivation on this project Lowroach!

I guess my biggest obstacle is knowing where to cut into the bed-wall. I believe we have similar models; I'm riding a 13/ Dbl Cab w/ a short-bed i.e. I don't have those extra storage boxes like the regular beds do that sit above the wheel-well. Did you have this obstacle as well? If so, pointers or guidelines?

    Quetsions:
    • Measurements for the counterpoint of your speakers.
    • Max speaker depth.
    • Did you mount to the bed liner?
    • Anything you would have done differently having already completed the mod?
Thanks in advance. Look forward to hearing back.
