I was wondering if anyone has used the bed step with a topper installed and the tailgate down? Seems like the back door of the topper could be in the way of your head. I just don't want to spend a couple hundred bucks and have not work at all. Thank you for any info or experiences.

Can't exactly picture what you're saying but the tailgate is usually down as a default to get onto the bed. If the glass is up you can just duck to get on/in???

I have both. Not quite understanding the concern. The bed step and topper door function independently of each other. If you are worried about head clearance, you normally duck your head and get on knees to get inside the topper. The bed step on the way in just makes it easier. On the way out, you will be fishing for the bed step. Best way out is just to jump out or pivot to your butt and slide out. Hope that helps.

Where would I get this for my 2022 Tacoma ? Is it Toyota dealer item ? I checked the AMP web site and they didn’t have one for a Tacoma. I want one, I’m short and old, can’t help it.

Yeah, it is an OEM accessory. It's probably made by AMP but it is sold by Toyota for the Taco. I love mine.

And if you can wait until July 4, Toyota might have an on line sale like they did last year sometime when I bought mine. Easy to install too.

I got mine off the TW member who had it on his truck from the factory. Bolts are already in the frame. Easy to put on.

I have one of the knock off's that I picked up on an auction site for dirt cheap. I don't remember who the manufacture is but it wasn't AMP. I have no complaints, seems to work great even if its not "original". Functionally its just fine, snaps down easy and stays in place when stowed, only once did I have it come down while driving and that was after hitting some uneven train tracks FAR faster than I should have.

I love it. I'm 5' 10" and can get into the bed without issue, this just makes it much easier.

I have the oem one and use it often.
I have another tacoma otw so I have been looking at options. There is a knock off on Amazon for about $88. Looks identical.
Only complaint seems to be hardware rusting. I may try it if/when the other truck ever shows up. If so, I'll paint the hardware before installing.

I took mine off my '23 TRD OR as soon as I got home from the dealer. I'll sell to anyone if they want it.

No money, all went to truck...
Amazon finally has some knock offs for $100 and even less. Several different ones, I bet all from same manufacturer...

Why in the world would you spend $330? There's no way its $250 better.

Because I can afford anything I want. For those who cannot, buy the cheap Chicom made knockoff from Amazon. The market covers everyone (usually).
