The affordable knock off has worked for me.
A little challenging to install but only because I'm not very limber or patient any more.
Don't know how the hardware will stand up as far as rusting especially in island conditions.

No money, all went to truck...
$87 step installed quickly. need ratchet extension, the bracket blocks easy access to the bolts.

so far solid, happy with it, we'll see if it lasts.

I had one on my truck I used every now and then. I like a long rock slider and stepping on that. from the back can just step up onto the bumper honestly.

Installed on Tacoma march of 2022. Loved it until today when I went to use it and it was gone. Looked underneath and the bracket was broken clean off. Used it about two weeks ago-no problem. It was OEM from Toyota. Never heard anything, but I’m sure someone on the road had a surprise when they ran over the step.

Dang !!! Do you think it was left down and you hit something or it caught on something ? I could see where it were left down and backing into something. It would take a pretty good lick to break that off. It looks to have broken off clean like it was fractured or had a crack already when you bought it. Also the metal looks like cast to me not forged steel. Dang, it just put an OEM step on my truck. If those are faulty that’s gonna p@#$ me off.

I would love to have one. I just don't see it being worth the high price tag. In my eyes, the OEM should be no more than $75 shipped and knock offs in the $35-50 range. But that's just my opinion.

Got one on my Limited and love it. At 76 it would be difficult to get into the bed without it.

I’m not doubting you, but it would be very rare for this item to just fail like that on its own.

I’m sticking with the the member had a really unique experience or it was damaged one way or another (left it down) and it got caught on something. I don’t see this just vibrating off. If anything; it would have failed when someone stepped on it and gave way.

^^^^ That. I have driven away before with the step down. Fortunately for me, I noticed it in time. I do not doubt, had I hit something with the deployed step, it would have broken off.

I’d consider selling my bed step, but I’m not sure that anyone would actually pay money for it. Easy installation, no YouTube video required…

    Hi,

I have the Amp Research on mine for 6 yrs now and use it all the time. A little WD40 and cleaning works and looks mint !

Particularly helpful on a lifted truck.

Lol, you’d be 100% correct. Gotta sign a waiver to use.

Bed step was one of the first mods I did. I'm short so it's very useful for me.
